Who makes a good tire spoon. I'm looking at cheapo Harbor Freight ones, but wounder if there's a handier one. I'd like to carry them in my emergency / off road mechanic kit.

How long a piece are you looking for? Look for a parts store that caters to large trucks. I've got various spoons as well as split rim tools. I don't fool with split rims and had one derim back in the 70's while in the cage. The longer the tool the more expensive but the more leverage you'll have. the last time I bought a new one was last year and they ran $15 and up. The cheap ones are so short though they will wear you out trying to pop that last bit of bead onto the rim.
