I have a 2024 Tahoe LT with around 23,000 miles and noticed this past week making a turn on wet pavement that the car slid a bit. It was 50 degrees out and not icy. I assumed the factory tires might last to 30K to 35K miles but my local dealer said that the factory tires sometime do not make it to 25K. I wanted to see if anyone else had this happen to them with factory tires.

With that in mind, I am researching new tire options and am looking for a good all season tire that can perform well in the midwest snow and also has low road noise. I have read a lot about Michelin Defenders but wanted to see what others recommended.

25k seems early to be losing grip. Factory tires aren’t second hand cheap tires. Did they check air pressure and alignment?

Michelin Cross Climate 2's. I have them on my 2021 Suburban and they have been great. My brother works at Belle Tire and he really likes these tires. I am in the metro Detroit area and they handle great in rain and dry, also good in snow.

Yes I did have them checked and they are already at a "4." The tech indicated that the Continentals on some Tahoes are softer tires that wear out quickly. I am planning to get the Michelin Defender LTX as a replacement.

Has anyone jumped from the Michelin Defender LTX M/S2 to the Defender LTX Platinum? Trying to decide which to put on my AT4.

Thanks!

Ha ha, If you have Alenza factory tires on your vehicle, these tires are complete death traps in the rain. I've had them on two Yukon's now and I couldn't wait to get rid of them. I'm running them on my current 25 for at least a year or two because they are so Dang expensive to replace but if I get to 20 or 25K you can bet they are going bye bye. I recently seen that Michelin introduced the Defender series for 24 inch OEM tires. They will be my first choice unless Pirelli matches them or is cheaper.

Ran Continentals on my '19 Tahoe for most of the 150K I had on it. They were terrific for wear and rain/snow traction and a bit less than the comparable Michelins. Got 60K+ out of 2 sets before I traded it in a couple weeks ago for a '26 Tahoe Z71 Diesel.

My 2021 Yukon Denali came with NT420V(s) - https://www.nittotire.com/suv-cuv-tires/nt420v-luxury-truck-suv-tire/ - 20,000miles ago when I bought the rig used.

Not a Yukon/Tire expert but have driven a lot in my life and these have performed as well as any for 'regular road' tires. Have driven in rain, slush, plowed road snow (pulling a trailer), and little bit of (dry) off-road. No abnormal 'slipping' on wet roads or any of the situations I've listed.

They're quiet, holding up and I'm pleased with them.

And I love the Defender LTXs M/S S2s that are on my Suburban. Trying to decide between a 35x12.5/20 LTX and a 295/60x20 Platinum (I will have room for either with coilovers and trimming).

My sister has Goodyear Wrangler Steadfast HT's on her new-to-her Escalade. I think they LOOK great, but I don't know how they perform in different conditions (she's only had the truck for a few months and doesn't know, either). I started a thread asking about them, but no one has responded. Anyone in this thread know anything about them?

Michelin Defenders (the OG defenders, not the Ms2’s) is what I run on my 22” GM wheels. The tread life is great and the tire runs smooth. I’m in Nova Scotia and I still recommend winter tires but that’s your choice. I run 20” Blizzak DM-V2’s for winter and they’re awesome. Michelin x-ice xi2’s are great too, especially on icy slick roads, but not as great in deep snow on the roads in my opinion.

Only 25k miles?!? The Tahoe OEM tires seem to be getting worse and worse. The 275/60R20 factory tires on my 2022 Z71 lasted about 35k. The factory tires on my cousin’s 2021 Tahoe Z71 also lasted about 35k. In contrast, the original 265/70R17 tires in my 2004 Tahoe LT lasted about 50k. The 3PMSF-rated GOODYEAR WRANGLER ALL-TERRAIN ADVENTURE WITH KEVLAR worked better traction-wise than the Michelin Defender LTX on my 2004 Tahoe (which still runs at 473+k miles). Road noise didn’t seem any different.

The Wrangler Duratrac is better in snow but is noisier than the two other tires. It is 3PMSF rated.

The 3PMSF-rated Goodyear Wrangler® Workhorse® AT-LT 2 might be worth looking at. It is one of the replacements for the ALL-TERRAIN ADVENTURE WITH KEVLAR version

Another recommendation for the Michelin Defender LTX. I have had Michelin tires on my previous trucks and replaced the Allenzas on my 2024 Tahoe after 15k miles.

The Allenza tires were good on dry highway and not as bad as some say but when I had the Michelin Defenders put on the difference in sound and handling was very noticeable.

The thing about Michelin is the quality of ride lasts through the range and my last truck I sold had 80k miles with 65k on the Michelins and you could see some wear but the ride was still smooth and quiet.

Most tires will always feel good when new but start to feel worn before they are visually suspect.
Michelin tires seem to hold the new feeling for longer than most brands.

The biggest difference was on my wife’s Honda. Getting new Michelins on that car made it feel like new!
