I just rememered, my front doors have 20% and the all rears have 35% to blend the tint color together. Matches perfectly.

I think this pic shows how well the 20%-front and 30%-rear blends well and almost looks like the same tint shade. It looks a little darker in this picture than it really is..maybe it's not such a good pic lol

I want mine that dark! Mainly because it's so damn hot out, also so the kids will fall asleep faster on long drives- if they sleep I can turn off Toy Story and actually turn XM on :)

I personally would go with a more expensive IR rejecting tint to keep the truck cool, instead of a darker film. 20%-FRONT and 30%-REAR is plenty dark.

You have two things to consider:
1) safety
--backing up
-blind spot (even during the day if it's dark enough - I had a tough time seeing out over my shoulder out of JKMotorsports truck when I was driving it
-you have kiddos :)

2) Tickets
-if it's dark enough, that "could" attract unwanted attention to your truck, then they find the windshield tinted and it can quickly be a small mess...then you gotta buy/install the windshield tint back on of course :)

I've been pulled over and tested twice because of my tint, once in Elgin outside of Austin and once by a dps officer in (Burton.) The DPS officer even wanted to search my truck since he thought I was running drugs or something.

That was in a single cab truck with completely legal tint on the sides and limo in the rear. You may be pulled over for it, but usually the worst thing that happens is they make you scratch it off with a razor right there.

I know the feeling.

I got mine tinted at Sunbusters - they always do my cars. %5 on top of factory and %30 or so on top of factory up front. It's pretty dark...wish the fronts were a bit darker, but don't want to fuss with the law.

Not sure if you saw mine, but I parked right next to you a little while ago at the HEB off of 1431. Your tahoe looks nice with the new wheels.

Yep sure did, I tried to remote start YOUR Tahoe when I came out, because mine was on the other side of it! lol. Yours looks great- we have pretty much the same tint then.

BOSS- everything you said, as usual, is right on point. It really is dark enough, and tonight when I was leaving the gym it was raining & it was so dark inside my truck...I just need to get something on the windshield to block the heat. You would recommend looking at the IR rejecting as the number one factor to consider for keeping it cool? Not to sound retarded but does it come in clear?

Check out that site for pics , prescriptionwindshields.. like I said they make a 70% that really is almost clear. That means it lets in 70% of the light I believe.

Here's a pic, look how dark it is getting outside and my windshield is still pretty darn clear. I have that 70% on the ws. It's not the same pic.

Good times. :)

I need to get with the program and finally get some wheels like yours and most people on here. Still looks stock and 'normal'.

Yep, chrome option 20's.

I did as well...I couldn't really tell from your pics, but they really do look nice in person.

I bought my 2009 Tahoe last Xmas...was issued a pair of plates. If the law was changed, why did I get 2 plates:) TX still is a 2 plate state. A lot of people misunderstood the bill (HB 1666) Fred Brown submitted back in Feb 2007...It was written so it would be effective 9/1/2007. Problem is HB 1666 is still a bill and hasn't passed:
http://www.legis.state.tx.us/BillLookup/history.aspx?LegSess=80R&Bill=HB1666

This guy that parks near me at work has a 2010 Camaro and ended up suction-cupping his front plate to his windshield because he's been lit up 3 times by City and county LEOs.

HELLS YEAH, they will pull you over for whatever they can around here. My local officer jokingly told me that he needed some donut money, LMAO

I'm thinking of getting Wincos on my truck. Just got my exemption letter from the state.

Here is some info:

Wincos - Best heat rejection non metalized film. Better heat rejection than any other film - even Huper Optik. Specifically designed for vehicles with keyless entry, bluetooth electronics, rear window antennas, GPS or navigational units.

Wincos offers the most extreme infrared (IR) rejection in the industry. Infrared waves are commonly referred to as the heat you can feel. Ultimate comfort can be achieved by targeting and blocking the IR wavelengths. The Wincos film line boasts the highest IR rejection while maintaining the highest possible visible light. Most other films in the industry have to make their films darker to achieve the similar levels of IR energy rejection.

Anyone have this or can offer suggestions?

Ok, I guess not, at least from the place I was trying to get it. First the Winco only comes in 20%, so on the front that would be too light. So i ask about other brands and told him I had an exception letter fro the state and he said he would not go 'illegal' on the fronts. I was like, I have a letter from the state saying I can. he said, not here he wouldn't. So, I am looking for another quality place with great tine with heat reduction in the Plano?Allen/McKinney?Frisco area.
