Hi there, brand new to the forum and seeking advice. We have owned several Suburban / Yukons over the years without issue. We bought a new '22 Tahoe RST Diesel 4 years ago, and within months the issues started and have not stopped. The rig has been in the shop around 25 times now for issues ranging from electrical, mechanical, engine and everything in between. Many issues were ongoing or are still ongoing as well as many of them including today rendered the vehicle undriveable. Upon the initial warranty about to expire, we fought hard and got GM to extend the warranty with the idea that we will debug this "COVID" car and be good. We are now about to run out of the warranty again and the problems are only increasing. We are outside both state and federal lemon laws.

We feel that we need to demand compensation from GM. We find that most Lemon Law attorneys are mills looking for easiest cases and quickest conclusions to their cases. Looking for direction on how to best handle this with GM and or referrals to any Oregon licensed law firms that would be best for this. Thank you in advance.

First, welcome to the forum, from Oregon. Where are you in Oregon and what dealership?

Second, first thing I would do is get all the problems documentation paperwork together and all the maintenance paperwork and visit the dealer again. Then ask for more extension on the warranty and if get crap over it, talk to the district manager. Have the paperwork in chronological order, so it tells a story.

If need be, talk the dealership in to buying the vehicle back to where at least you owe nothing on it but hopefully get more than owed to cover the problems you have had to go thru.

Then buy one of the Oregon rust free GMT800's and never look back.

Oregon Lemon is 3 unsuccessful repair issues and 30 days out of service within 24 months of original purchase. Federal law mirrors the manufacturer warranty 3/36 or the smog warranty (much harder to prove)

Lemon law specifically requires documentation, and timely notification to the manufacturer, I’d suspect you have missed the window of opportunity.

At this point, if your unhappy trade it in, but say anything about why. It will get you more money.

Lemon law attorneys are free to consumer … they aren’t afraid of tough cases but it is a volume business and takes 6-24 months.

But, when trading it in, the place you trade it in at will check the VIN history. If is a dealer, it is easy for them, unless you go to a different vehicle manufacturer. If you use a car lot, the info will be harder but they all run CarFax's.

Sell it private sale. That’s what I’d do. Takes longer but you’ll get 5-10k more. Than buy a new truck.

I’ve only traded in one vehicle in my life and that was because the trans was about to go and the dealer took it anyway, wasn’t going to private sale that!

I think being 4 years in that you will have trouble getting GM to do much at a buyback or lemon law type level. I would suggest leaning on the selling dealer and try to work something out.

I went through a buyback last year on a 26 Traverse. It went well but from my experience I would be surprised if they do much on a 4 year old ride.
