Unfortunately, I have early signs of the glass permanent seal chipped off. No idea how:

Start applying new seal from the glass outside. Silicone spray helps to slide it over the mating edge.
Now, you can see how the new seal does not completely overlap the glass, as it should:

So flip glass outside surface out and, I used my thumb to drive seal all the way onto the glass. Took several complete rounds like this around the entire seal. It gently pops where it should.

Reinstall the glass. It should be slightly higher in the rear, tilted forward.
Where I had chipped rubber "gasket" edge, I packed seal inside with dielectric grease, for additional sealing. Then, sprayed it over, after install, with liquid sealant spray. Won't hurt.
Entire process, no rush, took about hour plus.

I bought seal from Findlayautoparts, through Walmart. Was best price I could find.

I like the details and the pics but why did you start another thread for this instead of continuing the thread you already started?

That is unfortunate. I ordered the same part number for my 01 I’ll reply back if it fits or not since it seems like there’s no part number for 01 tahoes even though it’s removable from the glass

You’ll know the seal is applied correctly when you’re fingers feel like someone pulled your nails off your fingertips.

I imagine the factory that assembles them use a dead blow hammer or some kind of assisted tool that rolls the seal into place.

I have a new seal here.
I tried for about 4 hours to get it installed. Finally went to the wrecking yard and $35 later i had a sunroof glass with a good seal.

I might have to go that route, as the one I attempted is definitely not going to fit and I’m sending it back. Just lost shipping. May have to hit my local pick your parts

Just wanted to update this, I cleaned the absolute heck out of my gasket and under it as well as in the groove. Applied some WD-40 silicone to a rag and wiped the entire gasket and then re-adjusted the heights of my sunroof. One rainstorm and 1 pressurized car wash later "knock on wood" no leaks so far. I'm hoping that it will hold up over time lol
