Hey ya'll haven't posted much...haven't been driving the burb much. Shes turfed right now because, well, I'm borderline broke each month. So the little excess I have after bills goes into the honda so I can get to and from work in a much more efficient manner.

Anyhoooo, I guess this is just a discussion question and that is: what is the 2500 suspension actually good for?

I ask because when I got it, I realized it was insanely stuff. I dont really mind it, but I was under the impression that with a load she would be squatted and the suspension would be tolerable. Well, it's not. It's stiff unloaded, it's stiff with a 3500# flatbed, it was stiff with a 5000# camper...its just always freakin stiff.

I took my womans ram 1500 out to pull my 18' flatbed the other day. It was actually quite tolerable, and the 5.7 handled it just fine. The flatbed just beats the hell out of me in the suburban. Again, the suspension is so damn stiff so there is no forgiveness when I feel each and everyone of the bumps on the trucks tires, or the trailers tires. What gives? I'm just curious as to what having a suspension THAT STIFF is actually useful for.

Are you sure that a shock has not seized and that someone didn't previously add springs to your spring pack Derick?

Most folks say they settle down to a decent ride with a few hundred pounds behind the axle. My 1500 is the same way.

Do you also have LT Load Range E tires too?

Those 2500s were made to haul a lot of weight, on board and pulled behind.

I put all new bilstein 4600s on myself. I wouldn't assume anyone has tampered with the springs. The previous owner didnt do anything to the truck that they didn't have to.

Just 'cause they're new doesn't mean they ain't broke Derick. Check them and count the springs on the spring packs, you never know. Check the bushings in the end of the spring packs, u-bolts, shackles, etc.

I'm glad I found this thread. I will be looking into getting a 2500 burban after I'm out of college
