Hello everyone,
The Issue:
On cold mornings, when I turn left, I hear/feel a rubbing noise from the front of the vehicle. This is especially apparent when I am in the parking garage going under 10mph. The vehicle also slows down much quicker than normal (loses momentum quicker than normal) when in the parking garage, while I am turning left. It is a loud squealing sound that seems to be coming from the tires, BUT I can also feel it in the steering wheel & can feel some sort of vibration in the pedals. I have gotten under the vehicle and can't identify any scratching or rubbing marks on the wheel well, the UCA's have no scratches, no marks anywhere that would confirm that tire rubbing is occurring.
Details about my Tahoe:
2007 (NBS), z71 4x4
164,000 miles
Rack & Pinion - replaced 2 months ago
Rear Lift - 1.5inch spacer
Front Lift - ProComp Black Series Coil-Overs (provides a 2.5 inch lift on the front - essentially just a level kit)
Ties/Rims - 275/60/R20 -- in my profile picture those are the stock (18inch) rims. I have new rims with 5" of backspacing now (see below pictures).
** FabTech Upper control arms**
-- according to 4WheelParts (in Nashville, TN) - these UCA's should only be used with a 6 inch lift kit or more, due to the angle that they are made with. The 4WheelParts in Austin, TX did not mention this issue and thus told me that these were the UCA's that I needed to use-- because my factory UCA's have gone out and been replaced a number of times so I wanted to get Uniball UCA's)
--- 4WheelParts (Nashville) has said that I should change to the "Camburg UCA's" as they are made to fit any type of lift (or just a leveling). They also stated that because the angle of the FabTech UCA's are not made to fit a 2.5" lift, that it is causing issues with the Tie Rods & the alignment of the vehicle.
Your help will be greatly appreciated as I am not sure what to do at this point.
Kind regards,
Will (07-z71 Ghost)
