Long story short, had my tires swapped and now getting this error.

Instructions below. It's alot easier and simpler than it looks, and only took a couple of minutes.

TPM Sensor Identification Codes

Each TPM sensor has a unique identification code. Any

time you rotate your vehicle’s tires or replace one or

more of the TPM sensors, the identification codes

will need to be matched to the new tire/wheel position.

Each tire/wheel position is matched to a sensor, by

increasing or decreasing the tire’s air pressure.

The sensors are matched to the tire/wheel positions in

the following order: left front (LF); right front (RF);

right rear (RR) and left rear (LR).

You will have one minute to match the first tire/wheel

position, and five minutes overall to match all four

tire/wheel positions. If it takes longer than one minute,

to match the first tire and wheel, or more than five

minutes to match all four tire and wheel positions the

matching process stops and you will need to start over.

The TPM sensor matching process is outlined below:

1. Set the Parking brake.

2. Turn the ignition switch to RUN with the engine off.

3. Turn the exterior lamp switch from “Off” to “On” four

times within 3 seconds. A double horn chirp will

sound and the TPM low tire warning light will begin

to flash. The double horn chirp and flashing

TPM warning light indicate that the TPM matching

process has started. The TPM warning light

should continue flashing throughout the matching

procedure. The SERVICE TIRE MONITOR

message will be displayed on the Driver Information

Center (DIC).

4. Start with the left (driver’s side) front tire.

5. Remove the valve cap from the valve cap stem.

Activate the TPM sensor by increasing or

decreasing the tire’s air pressure for 10 seconds,

then stop and listen for a single horn chirp.

The single horn chirp should sound within 15

seconds, confirming that the sensor identification

code has been matched to this tire and wheel

position. If you do not hear the confirming single

horn chirp, you will need to start over with step

number one. To let air-pressure out of a tire you can

use the pointy end of the valve cap, a pencil-style

air pressure gage or a key.

6. Proceed to the right (passenger’s side) front tire,

and repeat the procedure in step 5.

7. Proceed to the right (passenger’s side) rear tire,

and repeat the procedure in step 5.

8. Proceed to the left (driver’s side) rear tire, and

repeat the procedure in step 5.

9. After hearing the confirming horn chirp for the left

rear tire, check to see if the TPM warning light is

still flashing. If yes, turn the ignition switch to OFF.

10. Set all four tires to the recommended air pressure

level as indicated on the Certification/Tire label or

the Tire and Loading Information label.

11. Put the valve caps back on the valve stems

Issue is my horn honks at all location besides passenger rear (RR). Shop says they have swapped out tire sensor multiple times. Never had this error before tire swap.

So you had your tires rotated and are now getting this error? Do you have a scan tool that can pull the BCM codes?

Seems to me that the RR sensor has failed or is failing and in need of replacement.

Probably an anomaly in your ECM. Disconnect your battery for about 10 minutes and hook it back up and see if it will set then. Also be sure when you are doing the procedure that no other vehicle that uses TPS is in close vicicnity that could confuse your TPS system............

Yeah, agreed the RR sensor must have failed when they swapped tires. I talked to a buddy who owns a shop and he said most sensors you have to activate first using a tool. You can't simply buy a new sensor and swap and relearn. I'm going to take it to the dealer instead of fighting the shop my wife decided to go to.

Sensors ever been changed? If not, the OE ones are nearing their end-of-life.

After reading all the TPMS threads I ordered a set off eBay that were genuine and had the lowest price. I just had new tires put on and gotten a mile away with a flat and TPMS going off.

Figured it was the bead not seating on the tire. The tech had not relearned the new tire locations and indeed, the bead not seating was just a fluke. Fast forward 4 mo and I had a bad valve stem seal in the front d/s tire and my new Indy tech discovered a bad TPMS sensor in the d/s rear tire.

The Indy techs like it when u have your own parts when u come in. Told him to grab a TPMS sensor from the stowage compartment in back by the spare tools if he needed one. Viola! Only had to pay for pulling one tire and the cost of 4 TPMS sensors the dealer would have charged for just one.

Lesson learned: If you have more than 5-6 years on your TPMS sensors keep a set by your jack n tools in a ziplock bag. Be sure to have the tire guy verify one or all all of them work b4 they install. No sense in installing a TPMS w/ a bad battery when it takes seconds to verify them. It also verifies an out of town tire shop can’t stick you with the ol “have to charge u for pulling tire 2x and it’s TPMS sensors since one of yours is bad.” I scribed all my TPMS sensors purchased just in case a shady shop wants to play a shell game with their bad and my good TPMS sensors.

Ha ha, just played the TPMS shell game with my new favorite tire shop. Went in to have the recent alignment off the 5 yr alignment policy realigned again. It pulled to the right. Also had the tires rotated w/ a coupon and another TPMS sensor installed in a d/s tire leaking at the valve stem.

Damn! They told me TPMS was ok and did not change it. Told them the valve stem leaks, TPMS is still ok (again). So they install the 2nd of 4 TPMS sensors I have and they ask if it’s a GM sensor. I proudly boast yes and lie while telling them it was $80 from the dealer. I ask them if they checked it b4 they installed it. They say no, it must be pressurized. They look at the TPMS tool again and say oh guess not.

I go to back of truck and pull out another TPMS sensor and the tech said it took 3 tries to get it to read. The other one reads right away. I tell him to install the good one and I’ll return the other two to the dealer.

I’ll post again when I have my indy shop check the other two TPMS to verify their state. Good news, alignment fixed, tires rotated and leaky valve stem replaced, TPMS monitor replaced and left for $20. Yea, I’m buying these guys lunch again. It’s Big O tire here in San Clemente.
