I originally set up the trailer option on my 2024 Tahoe when I bought it new over a year ago. At the time I labeled the trailer in the app and put in the information/specs.
I never added tire pressure information as I was told by a few people even the dealer that I would have to buy tire pressure sensors and for my double axle trailer/4 wheels I didn’t think it was worth it at the time.

Fast forward a year and I just had my boat trailer lights fixed ( boat trailer lights and wiring don’t play well in salt water) and going through the trailer page options I noticed a new tab - “monitor tire pressure”, so I selected it. Next page gives 2 options, enter tire pressure with tool and enter tire pressure manually. Both options don’t ask if sensor is installed like the previous version.
I select manual and next page has instructions to use gage for pressure and press “next” with directions that the horn will beep 3 times and hit next.

Well since it’s pouring rain I didn’t want to check the pressure on 4 tires, getting in and out of the truck so I’m gonna wait for better weather.

I didn’t notice this option before when truck was new but did one over the air update at the dealership and one update at my house. Maybe they added tire pressure monitor that can be synced with external gage with out installing tire pressure sensors in the wheel?

Anybody try this option out yet? Not installing specific tire pressure sensors and getting the truck to monitor the tire pressure in my trailer tires?

I have a separate system with caps on my stems and a small display I keep in the cab. I have a Sierra and 3 trailers so mine may be different but setting up each trailer gives me the option to set how much pressure I want but doesn’t read the actual pressure.

The only way the factory system works is with GM sensors installed in the trailer wheels. You have to let air out of each trailer tire so the system knows which tire is being monitored and then it will honk indicating it has read that tire and on to the next one. I have done this for my trailer and the system works great but you need to get the sensors installed for it to work.

Thanks for that. I thought there might be some update on the app but it makes sense that you would need a sensor installed to relay the data.

The option page did look different and I didn’t have time to mess with it.
The fishing has been exceptionally good after a slow summer!
