There's a code if there's a message, but the scanner needs to be able to read more than engine codes ("Bxxxx" codes).

Some auto parts store scanners will read body codes, if you just want it read. Best to call first and ask if they're capable.

You could also check the Tech 2 Owners Map to see if someone near you has one and could read them for you.

If the light is on then there are codes or a code. Have u driven it then left it running and then checked the codes?
