Sa-8 v2 amp recommendations

Anybody here ever had any hands on time with the new sa-8 from sundown? I'm n the edge of ordering them but want to know if my RF 1500bdcp would be too much or just right for them. Every site I seem go on says that the subs are underrated? Figure any audiophiles here could chime in and help me out. Thanks!!!!!

The RF is too much power for those. You would need at least three of them (Sa-8s) to be linked to the RF so that you do not annihilate them.
People always say that the internet brand subs can handle a lot of power, but they forget that if they could, they would go a while w/o needing recones (like mainstream brands when powered properly).
For example, if I push my SSA Xcon 18 2500 watts of power constantly and it needs a recone by the end of next year to sound good again, it could not handle that power.

Yeah...that seems like like the first str8 answer that advises not to hook them up to the 1500. So I suppose a 1000w would be more beneficial. Thought I may have lucked up.

You can run them on that 1500, but you have to be abke to realize when they are being overdrivin. Sounds like bottoming out and coil rub and stuff. Also you have to know to back it down when they start smelling.

Also go easy on the gain because dirty and clean power make all the difference.

Also is there a reason you wouldn't go bigger as in larger subs?

Well, I still have my RF T1's. But I also want to keep my third row in.

I tink you should either run two SA 8s off a T1000 bdCP, or go all in and run 3 off the T1500.

Hi, I am new here but for my Silverado Ext cab I run a single SA-8v2 in a ported enclosure and figured I will give you some input on an amp. The SA-8v2 is an amazing sub.

I have ran the SA-8v2 since the first pre-order date on a Rockford P500-1bd. As you may probably know, Rockford also underrates their RMS rating and from the note given when I got the amp, it was running more in the range of 650RMS at 1 ohm which is 150RMS more than Sundowns rating for the Sa-8. I can tell you however that you can easily run more power to the sub but in reality, there is no need. I run the amp at 3/4 gain and 3/4 turn on the bass knob and for the more bass demanding songs, I can say I can smell the voice coils slightly heat up. The sub has been doing that since I have had it (given the breakin period where I ran it "soft") but it has been a trooper so far and still hits hard. People are generally amazed at the power of the Sa-8 and do not believe me when I say its an 8. I do not find the need to run more power than 500rms for the Sundown, they hit amazingly hard, even at half that power. Unless you want to drown out your mids/highs or basically have a "burp" box, stay at 500rms and less per sub.

Thanks for the input. And I surely do know that RF underrates their amps. I figured that I can get away with not buying another amp. But I don't want to jeopardize the life of my subs. So I'll just go ahead and bite the bullet and buy a new amp and sub package.

I have 4 sundown sa-8v2 in my Tahoe with one Audiopipe 1800watt D amp and it beats like crazy!

look for any subwoofer the best amp to run with should be a monoblock amplifier to save you money and it will sure give you better results
