I was at 10.3 at WOT right after the cam and headers: Justin adjusted my tune so now I'm at 11 which he said is about right. He wants to see where it's at after the new pulley and said he might have to go to a 2-bar tune whatever that is, due to the limitations of my PCM. I hope it doesn't require a new fuel pump at that point but if it does, I'm going to make an access panel under the carpet in the rear. F dropping the tank.
Yeah the stock map sensor can only read pressure so high so a 2 bar may be required with more boost. I think the Chevy cobalt map sensor is a 2 bar. Your map sensor would be the limiting factor, not the pcm. The stock map sensor just wouldn't be able to monitor the volume of air at higher boost levels and and the pcm just uses the max figure it sees and essentially u run lean and boom..

It sucks that with each mod my fuel mileage range drops. I was hoping you would see better highway mileage because a blower is the only thing left for me and I would like to at least get out the city limits before needing gas. I thought the bypass in the supercharger would help highway mileage..

The new pulley came in so I just installed it. I’ll go check my AFR and do a data log later after traffic dies down and I can get out of town. Hoping it works without a new tune.

I just took it for a few WOT runs with the 3.375 pulley. That was FUN. I was busy trying to watch the AFR at first since I was worried about running lean but it looks like the PCM was able to adjust fine, in fact I'm running a bit rich I think- over 12 at 4500-5000 RPM. I'll send the log to Justin to have him analyze it before I'm totally comfortable though, and see if he wants to make adjustments. On the 3rd run I watched boost and it looks like I'm getting 8.5. I'll have to swap the readout on my wideband gauge so boost is digital before I can see it accurately; right now AFR is digital and boost is an led around the perimeter which is harder to accurately read. It's easy to swap the functions with my laptop hooked up to the AEM failsafe. Anyway, seat of the pants says it's definitely faster. The Beast is a real animal. And now that the check for my bagger cleared, I just ordered the Wilwoods, 16" fronts and 14" rears. I really want to be able to stop this thing fast. My heart is still beating fast, damn.

Those Wilwoods are nice. I think hydro boost would make them better. Really want to hear your feedback. U need to watch the a/f because what's ideal for n/a is lean for a boosted engine or I should say not as a safe.

I have always been watching my a/f, that's the main reason for my dual function wideband. Previously, right after I installed the cam and headers, I was getting concerned because at WOT it was dropping to 10.3 which I considered lean. Boost went from 8 to 6 which I figured would happen since the blower was pushing the same amount of air but there was less restriction. Justin checked my data log and adjusted things and I went up to 11 which he said was about right. That's why I'm wondering why I went up to 12 after dropping pulley size and gaining boost back to the level I was at before. More air being pushed through should have resulted in a leaner condition, not richer. I'll keep an eye on it, and I'll be sending a data log to Justin. He did say previously that he allowed room for pulley changes to a certain degree with his tunes. I had discussed this pulley swap with him before I did it, and he instructed me what to do and what to watch out for. At least it looks like my fuel pump and injectors are adequate.

Actually 10 would be considered rich and what Justin did was lean the tune out to 11 which is ideal for boost. You had wiggle room before the adjustment. Now if 11 is leaner adding the pulley further leaned out the tune to 12 because of the added air. He will now need to add more fuel or richen thr tune to get you back into the safe zone.

The damn truck is going to feel faster afterwards. Luckily the lq4 is a low compression motor and gives you more room to play with boost.

I agree. Your mechanical acumen is far above my skillset in that department, but I sure like learning about new things and envision my Tahoe with an SC on there and giving some of the super cars around here a wake up call. For the moment, I will live vicariously through your thread. Pretty damn killer!! :peace:

I decided that this time around with the brakes I’m taking the easy way out when it comes to bleeding them so yesterday I ordered a Motive power bleeder, and today Amazon delivered it. Pressure instead of suction because I discovered the latter doesn’t work well.

I decided that this time around with the brakes I’m taking the easy way out when it comes to bleeding them so yesterday I ordered a Motive power bleeder, and today Amazon delivered it. Pressure instead of suction because I discovered the latter doesn’t work well.
