Just caught up the last few pages. smh...I think you and your daughter need a holiday away from speed. Island time with some sand and surf to unwind and catch your breath. Hawaii or Mexico are closest. Take it easy man and heal up.

Yeah the smoke from the fires in the Columbia Gorge was blowing my way so bad yesterday that Portland had the worst air quality in the nation. Its getting better today since we're having our first rain in about 3 months.

So curious what kind of Toyota did she hit? Older model?
These new cars like her cruze are made of half metal half plastic but take impact better than our older full-size suvs. Not to mention all the curtain and side air bags.
So what's her pick for a replacement, staying with gm product?

I have no idea what she hit because the sleazebag left the scene. No insurance or license just like the sleazebag that pulled in front of me on my bike I'm sure. It hit right above the frame so it pushed everything back like an accordion. And since all the airbags deployed they're about $5k alone, plus the wiring burned so the computers probably fried. So yeah they take an impact good as far as protecting the passengers but they total easier. And she loved the Cruze so she wants another, this time with a sunroof.

Bought a 2016 Cruze for my daughter today to replace her totalled 2015. This one is the new body style and has a sunroof, in Charcoal Grey. 2400 miles and it's Certified Used with all kinds of options. My daughter just found the original sticker and it's listed at 25,350. It was a trade-in from an older couple who decided they needed something bigger. We got it for 16,300 out the door including license title and registration which is a steal IMO. It was almost 2000 below KBB. It's a nice car and she really likes it. With her insurance payout it cost me around 2500 so I say it's a win. We're both happy.

The trip to buy my daughter's new Cruze let me put 450 miles on the new trans and was a good shakedown trip after getting everything back together. The truck performed flawlessly but it has a slight miss at idle. I'm going to upgrade the plugs to platinum or iridium now that I found the right heat range for the blower, I'm just running the standard NGK's. It was mostly highway and I wasn't hammering it much but still I was surprised to get 13 MPG.
