Decided to avoid potential problems by attempting to ‘hardwire’ existing (supplied by mnfr.) cable with cig. lighter plug. Purchased hardwire harness from Amazon to allow for power to camera, to come from fused power source from fuse box. Less hassle and trouble than trying to identify which wires on orig. cable have which function.

Also, “Thanks!” Doubeleive! Decided using cigarette lighter/accessory power source not the best or easiest way to draw on power for camera - didn’t realize these were prob wired in series, as you mentioned.

I believe these dash cams operate on 5 volt USB power rather than 12 volts. Using the cigarette adapter likely steps the voltage down for your dash camera.
