Hello Im installing a reman transmission into my 2003 chevy tahoe Lt 5.3. The question is do you have to worry about the space between the torque converter and the flex plate. I couldnt find anything in the haynes manuel besides just make sure the transmission mate with the engine and make sure the torque converters spins.

Before installing the Torque converter it needs atleast 1qt of tranny fluid inside it to prelube its bearings. While spinning converter clockwise you should feel and hear 3 distinct clicks as the torque converter is spun and drops inward toward transmission. See attached video for demonstration and explanation of what is happening.
Beware that once tranny is fully installed that the 4L60E will NOT tolerate whatsoever being started with low fluid level. You literally can burn the tranny up without even driving the vehicle 5ft if fluid level is low so make sure that fluid level is measuring atleast the full mark if not much higher. Remember the converter is not all the way full yet and the fluid level check is not exact until tranny is warmed up. Dont worry about overfilling it by a quart or so. It is much better to overfill and have to remove fluid than to start tranny up with fluid level well below min mark. You cant add fluid to make a burnt up tranny better.
