Meh, the front door my wife wanted fiberglass 36” with 2 side lights was $3500 20 years ago… nobody uses it… we go in through garage, kids friends go in through garage….pizza delivery, amazon and ups/fedex see it more than we do…i remember the plumber brought the mb jacuzzi tub in through it and one of the feet on the tub grabbed the edge of the fiberglass and ripped it… he claimed it wasn’t him but he was the only one wrking that day….dealer replaced the slab under warranty anyway but man there was some cursing going on there for a few hours…

For the slider wall i believe 2x6 with a triple lvl header should hold up fine…i have no lolly columns in my garage and a few triple lvls holding everything up just fine.. youll be good

Our front door will not get much use either, nor will be seen much. The house is parallel with the driveway, so not exactly a "wow" factor on the garage side. This door is $4k I think, plus accessories. My builder does a mahogany door on every build he does, so why change it. It'll be a nice break from the black and white theme. Also, the t&g porch ceilings and posts will be stained the same or similar colors.

I'm not worried about the support side of the slider, it's the width. 7.5 or 7.75" track width. They will have to do something or the door frame will be protruding on the 2x6 wall. Maybe they just add fur strips? It's not a super long wall, so I'd rather them just upsize the studs along the entire wall instead of adding material, or doing some weird bump out.

I had some scrap osb so I made our "temporary address" sign. We have to have that and permit box before they do the footers.

Most people just rattle can the numbers on it and hang it up. I didn't like that look, so I cut a stencil. After that, I put a few coats of polyurethane on it so it will hold up in the weather.

I wanted satin but they were out. Semi gloss it is. I just did the last coat, so hopefully it cools off in the shine department.

I've spent so much money trying to make the place pretty, I couldn't have a shit sign to go along with the dead grass and washed out driveway....

Premium signage will cancel the rest.

Honestly tho, dude sent pictures after the grass cutting and it's not as bad as thought. Driveway will be fixed next week, even if have to take a tractor out there and do it myself

Meeting on site tomorrow evening to see the layout staked, stringed, and painted. Hopefully it's done...

Next task, they have house drawn with a 24" pony wall along the back side. This allows the siding to carry further down. I'm not sure I'm comfortable with the floor joists resting on a pony (knee) wall. If we change that, I'll have to get the foundation engineered because it'll be ~12' on the backside of the house. I'll make the decision tomorrow. I've already had a conversation with a firm we use for our retaining wall designs, so they'll bump me to the front. That means it's just money and not a delay.

Also, ordered the window package. We're debating on door hardware for the front entry, then waiting on a the quote to come back for the screen on the panel door.

Lastly, with the panel door, I have to bump that wall to 2x8 studs. It has a nice break, so shouldn't change much. Speaking of building, if I adjust the foundation, that's 2' more brick/block. Not sure the cost increase for the additional block/brick/whatever engineering requirements will be. One things for sure, it's nothing money can't fix...

Love the curved driveway, have a similar setup on 10 acres, and so nice to break the sight lines with a curve and not some dumb straight drive

In your bio…. What is the story about the Mongoo$e ‘Vette GS ?? ( I knew Tom, but never heard of that car )

Mongoose Motorsports built GM licensed replica 1963 Corvette GrandSports for a number of years before Gary passed away. His wife Trish has kept the company going, thought the GrandSport side doesn't get a lot of their support anymore sadly. It's a great way to experience a 60's racing Corvette without having to pay over 10 million USD for one of the 5 originals!

They are a full 4" chromoly tube frame chassis, C4 steering rack, dana rear, hubs and control arms, 4 corner coil-overs. Mine was built with a ZZ502 BBC and a build Richmond 4 speed manual. If I were to build it today, I would take my C5R LS heads, and have Katech build a full C5R 427 backed by a TR6060...but I'm likely going to list it for sale this year as we haven't used it as a family for far too long.

My 99 I bought 26 years ago with just 3200 kms (Canadian car) on the odometer. WU8 SS car, M6, BBS Hurst equipped (though I replaced it with the Hurst Billet plus). Similar to you, it's a H/C build but mine is on a stock bottom end, so nothing crazy with any nitrous. Has a ton of UMI suspension, full Kooks stepped long tubes to their true dual setup, Wilwood brakes, etc. Built it for weekend canyon roads more than anything. Currently sits at under 38000 miles, and need to put my new to me PRC heads on it and BTR shaft rocker setup. Tons of other stuff like your signature, blah blah blah

I assisted in the Tom Mongoo$e - Duster “restoration”….. It wasn’t the original body, but the original paint designer / painter recreated it. ( Blood Did It )…..Don "The ‘Snake’” Prudhomme found the identical body ).
I also worked for Dick Guldstrand… legend with his Grand Sports …. Including his world record ‘closed-course’ Traco engined ‘Vette… run at Talladega. Also his Propane powered GS…. ( Then there is his Chevrolet sanctioned 50th Anniversary ‘Vette was a fun project.
