want to do a straight posi in my truck, here are my options
1)weld the spider gears
2) install a mini spool
the stock limited slip really blows. i am fully aware of the hop and have driven a striaght posi truck before , not concerned just want opinions on the method

If you plan on driving it on the street that much i would not do either of those. I have heard good things about the detroit trutrac

u can Lincoln lock (weld spiders) it the tires are gunna chirp when cornering slow like parking lots.. and what not, or just put a decent posi in the rear I.E used from the junk yard or have it rebuilt ina shop, id prefer the shop todo it.

get a posi, do NOT weld spiders, cheapest route and works is mini spool...but plan on going through rear tires as the inside will drag and wear faster on each turn. So pay more now for a real locker.

The guy that is doing my my gears and locker told me to get the detroit locker because the trutrac breaks alot. My friend has one on his 72 blazer and it sucks. Guy at 4 wheel parts told me that since I have z71 i should go with detroit if i wanted to see difference. That they already come with a good locker in them from the factory.

your gonna love the traction you get in straight lines, but you will have a hard time turning, lol its gonna wanna keep going straight. so give your self some extra turning space. and you will now need to use the throttle to steer a little :p just to help you out.

lol your gonna love it in the rain, i slide every corner, exit ramp and turn. i always said that "being able to drive with a spool is a test of a mans driving skill, if you can deal with the slide then you can really drive."

in the rain go to a big open lot and practice your sliding. lol its fun with a spool

Sounds like fun, just run it till it blows like you say. Then you have an excuse to go find a 14Bolt THEN drop the trutrac in it.

I have no idea what most of you guys are talking about. I have a spool, I chirp tires if i gas it good. But if I take nice and slow like a non aggressive driver turning is a breeze. I have yet to attempt a doughnut as I am afraid of breaking shit and wearing my tires b/c they r fuggin exspensive to replace.

I still don't know how ur tranny is alive and well!
