So I finally made up my mind, and decided that I wanted a moderate drop and still have a nice ride, and still utilize my vehicle if I needed to. I went with a 2/3 drop kit by DJM. Coils, shock extenders and keys. I would be self installing it myself, so if its any good links or writeups, shoot me a link to them. Special tools?

Got my kit 2 days early. So now comes the questions

Do I need to cut half of my rear bump stops for a 2/3 drop? I really want the max drop I can obtain in rear. I also read something about removing isolators? What is that and where is it located?

yah mike there shipped it out faster then I expected.

In rear yes you do need to cut the stock bumpstops and if you wanted max drop in rear you should have went with the tb rear springs :)

isolators are the rubber pieces on top and bottom of the springs you can remove those if you like it shouldnt squeak.

Great, you guys are quick. I am going to remove the isolators then. And Yes I was to scared to get the 5" drop in the rear :) Im going to be totally happy I think, this is coming from a lifted guy, so Ill be quite comfortable. I was okay with the stock height cranked all the way, but I still had that dreaded rake. The back was still .5" higher. Ill be tons happy as it will be perfect level now plus lower and sportier.

Im trying to hunt down some jackstands. To get started, lol

thanks guys. Well the rear is almost completed, just need to install shock extenders. I went ahead and removed the bumpstops completely, but left the bracket attach, so the stop alone allows for 4" plus of travel, so I know I am good there. I plan to just decrank after I set the rear back together, Im doing all this with the wheels still on as well. I took some pics, Ill post later.

I read I need a special tools for the tbars, so Ill have to look into that, then I can tackle that. so far its smoothe as a breeze, and good thing I have normal suspension not air ride.

after comparing the stock shock do the 3" drop it seems moderate. But I can understand you guys wanting to go lower already. hehe

---------- Post added at 11:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:08 PM ----------

slightly lower, wow, not really did much. But ride seems okay, not like stock but lil bouncey, takes curves alot better already too. Still need to settle guess. Plus the front stock keys are still maxed, and its slightly higher than the rear now. So I got a feeling I may not use these keys, if I decrank the stockers, and level it out. Really dont look like much of a drop at all, but when I 1st lowered it I could slightly tell.

get the shocks changed out. the djm 3/5 (tb 4 inch rear springs) rides better then cranked keys/3 inch combo set up. but you didnt want to go that low.

got a question if I go airborne with the stock rear shocks and shock-extenders, will the spring pop out in the air??? that seems kinda scarey but Im not certain, but seems possible. Seems like the shocks are all that hold the axle up really.

with shock extenders it wont pop out no unless person who had your truck before you replaced with shocks that are longer then stock. and yes like all the tahoe/trailblazers the shocks are the thing that limits how much lift you have on axle

Yea didnt want to go that low, but is it possible with the right drop shock it drops even lower? (are my stockers holding the ass up?) The overall ride is not that bad really, but just worried about catching air or extention will the spring pop out?

Im going to decrank the stock keys and call it good. Cause my truck is a 2wd and the front will drop quick. So may have no need for keys. Rear seems pretty high still, hope it settles.

if you jack up truck now and springs dont come out they wont come out on extension when you are driving.

with a 2/4 drop rear sits 1/4 to 1/2 lower than front
with a 2/3 drop rear sits 1/2 to 3/4 higher than front

Thats the thing they did while I let the axle down while the frame was on stands. I had to use a spacer on the jack to lift it extra high to remove the jacks from the frame. So Im thinking if the frame jacks up high enuff it may pop? maybe Im wrong there.

I decranked my stock keys, about 8 turns from the max, and its alot lower than the rear (rake) which I hate, so I cranked the stock Tbars all the way back up but out 2 turns, and it looks alot closer to level, but may still need to turn it up 1 more time to perfectly get the truck level with the rear.

With the stock tbars max (2more turns) and stock rear springs, the truck sat about 1/2" taller in the rear still. So It prob droped about 1.5" overall net vs stock spring. Atleast it can be perfectly level now.

Back measures 36 5/8 on both sides after the 3" springs and shock extenders. I still have some rake in the front with only 2 turns to max out the keys. front is still lower by a inch, so Ill try to get it perfectly level and snap some pics.

Ok after looking at the pics from b4 and after doesnt look like I did anything to the truck... Im starting to think I did something incorrect. I think that the shock extenders may have been installed wrong, cause I found a pic of another extender and it was turned down almost like the reverse of what I did. Here is the pics I found
BEL6651.jpg

Mine is installed where the ends are point upwards... So Im thinking about going back and seeing if I can flip them to point down, then resinstall the shocks

---------- Post added at 08:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:59 PM ----------

Got the arse to settle properly. Luckly I found that pic of the belltech shock extender. The DJM instructions were not to helpful. After reading the thing several times, I had to look at the picture they sent to even make sense out of it. Then I tried different ways to position it like the belltech pics, and only 1 way made sense.... I took the extenders off, fliped them down, and it brung the rear shocks lower to the ground. I then jacked the axles to tighten down the shocks. Now Im comfortable that if I catch air, the springs will stay in place. But I can ever so slightly spin them around. But aint no way they could flyout like I had them before. It may also be possible thats what the isolators are for, to keep them from spinning.

Now that the rear is fully dropped properly, IMO its a significant difference. It now looks like a 3" drop happened in the rear, not a 1.5". The arse is now way lower than the front, so I have to back out on the Tbars for adjustment now, and I may even need the keys that came with the kit this time. Im sure the ride is totally different now too, it wasnt bad before, but I can imagine it feeling real good now. Ill post back results.

I will as soon as the rain stops. IMO its rides 1000 times better. Even better than stock as I had my keys maxed to raise the front. Now with 2 turns down from max (still alot cranked) It rides smoothe as silk. I do plan to decrank it to level it off later tonight. If the stock keys dont take it down to level, then Ill be forced to use the keys that came with the kit. Im looking forward to decranking the stock keys, as when I bought the truck it rode like butter.

IM happy with this kit, and happy I did not go lower than a 2/3. 2/3 is perfect for me. Ill snap some pics as soon as I can. Just wanted to compent on the ride quality.

great advice bud. I did decrank the stock keys, and it brought it down alot, as I have a 2wd. Front is slightly lower than the back now. But I want to crank another turn back up or it may only take half a turn to level it with rear now. So far I am very impressed.

I would change the keys as soon as time prevails. But honestly I dont think it can get any smother than this. Rides better than stock. I got some pics of it today, so Ill uplooad those tonight. Now that I can see the roof, I have plans on removing the rack and molding up there now.
