From what i remember, the cover is mounted with several little tabs, that would need bending (easy) to get off. My guess is they didn't have enough of your color so they swapped your original over.

Mine was done last year some time - took me longer to find a dealer to do the work and drive there than what it took for them to complete...In and out!!!

The recall is for the passenger airbag, no charge to you should be in & out same day

Quite possibly with a cracked dash to boot.....

Just got a card in mail about a recall. This from a dealership in a nearby state. Guess they got my info off my state's registrations somehow.

Do you guys think this is a scam to get me into the dealership for a sales push?
If it is for real...should I locate a local dealership and expect them to do it (whatever they got to do to the bag ???)
Kinda late for a 2012 vehicle I think...but....better late than never I reckon.

Got the recall work done today. Really nice people and they did it fast while I looked at the new Tahoes, Yukons and Hummers....I was lucky to get away from that place quickly...ha ha ha

Has the recall work been performed? If not, GM will likely bug you until the vehicle is sold.

I had one of the Explorers in the death tire year group. Despite having 200K miles, Fjord kept bugging me about the tire recall.

I had an explprer back then... Ford replaced the tires and then later those replacements were recalled
and I got a set of BFG longtrail T/A pretty sweet deal

Had them replaced on both my Fusions -- 2008 and 2012 (my DD).

Yeah, just what I want, some 16 yr old going through my wiring. There is absolutely no competence left out there. Screwed each and every time I rely on someone else to lay a hand on my vehicles. Airbag would go off during the "repair" and Id get sued for injury and punitive damages by some blue hair safe space seeker.

I believe this recall is being used for nefarious firmware/software updates that are too big for OTA/ONSTAR transfers. Likely updates to their "remote control" abilities that the govt made mandatory as a term of the GM bailout years ago..
I called a dealership and told them they could update/repair any physical hardware they wanted, but they could not hook up any electronics at all and that I would be there the entire time. They replied that GM has added software updates to this recall and they must be done or nothing can be done.

We know one thing for sure, and that is that no corporation or govt entity cares about our safety. they are hounding me regarding this recall as if they do care, leaning heavily toward nefarious purposes.
I work in IT and know that 75% of Microsoft operating system updates are related to their back door access and I am sure that this industry is the similar, particularly after the govt had their evil paws in it temporarily.
