Hey guys, I was wondering if oil pressure sending unit failures are common on these trucks and if it's a pretty easy fix? My 05 Yukon XL is pegged at 80 all the time.

It`s an easy fix if you have small hands, I have catchers mitts for hands and could not remove the damn thing. I called a tiny friend of mine for help and he had it in and out in about five minutes.

There are companies on the internet that will rebuild your dash module with new stepper motors and new lamps.

O wow, guess I need to figure out how to trouble shoot and see if its the stepper motor or the sending unit.

mine has been stuck since like august, i got a sending unit, but keep reading that you have to pull the fuel line off, so i have been putting it off. can you reach it without taking off the fuel line?

I just did mine, a mirror on a stick helps you get a good idea of what you have to do. I used an oil pressure sending unit socket on a swivel, and then a 12 inch extension to my ratchet up above the hood line.
The only thing I had to unhook was the electrical connector on the switch itself, and one other electrical connection near the switch that was making it difficult for my socket to fit on the switch.
No fuel line removal for me :)

My Oil gauge actually bobbles. Meaning when i am on the gas it runs at about 55, but at idle it bumps up and down around 35+/-. Any ideas. (Also have a leak coming from this area I think, seems to run down the transmission dip stick and down to an odd spot on the bell housing. Fluid seems clear though and slightly oily, not so much like motor oil. (I am learning there is a filter in that spot underneath pressure sensor?? Would a filter clean the oil up that much?) this is my first post and cant seem to find a rear engine leak from the top of the motor.... I am pulling the plastic shrouds off after work today to see if I can get a better view. Starting to leave a small spot after each use, sometimes the diameter of 3+ inches... Doesn't seem to be getting worse but has been going on for a couple weeks. It's a 6.0 - O4' yukon denali. Any ideas? Fluid is not pink, more like clear and low density, but no odor...

edit: all the fluids seem to be checking out ok when measured.... this is so weird.

The only fluids I can think of that would be in that area and more of a clear color are power steering or brake, is it hydroboost? The "filter" under the oil pressure sensor is basically a little screen, it wont do much but keep big hunks out. If your engine oil is pretty clean still, it could be the sensor still. It will leak terribly eventually.
