What’s everyone with higher miles running ?

What area of the country are you in? How’s the terrain? Do any towing? I’m at 135k and use Mobil 1 synthetic 5w30 for my area. Lots of folks will chime in on this one so hang on.

I think it's probably just because there are SO many discussions on this here already too search through. You'll find all kinds of opinions, and lots of cool info if you take the time.

I run Mobil 1 5w30 high milage full syn with Mobil 1 M107A filters, FWIW.

I think right now, the "best" oils by the numbers appear to be the new Rotella gas truck and the new AC Delco that @swathdiver found. He recently posted the chart.

You can use Google to search just this site. I have gotten ok at using the on board search tool, but it is far from optimal.

This forum's format on a mobile browser smokes any app you might use, imo.

I am still searching for who supplies the synthetic oil to Amazon for packaging but this test speaks volumes. I have used this full synthetic oil with an AC Delco filter with absolutely no problems.

Thank you. I see it now and found this. I think for the price difference and how it tested, this oil is fine for my Tahoe and likely just fine for all others. I know that embers will stick with what they know works but I also know that lots of the price point for the major brands is packaging, advertising and in some cases just a puffed out chest and "Mine is better than yours so we cost more". I think the same thing happens with gasket kits. I like the AC Delco gaskets for my rig but I feel that in most cases Fel-Pro is a better choice.

I've had 2-3 psi less oil pressure when running a Mobil 1 oil filter, I use K&Ns HP2011 as it has better filtration, it's longer for easier access and has a one inch nut welded to the bottom of the can to make installation and removal easier.

As mentioned earlier, I've not liked how M1 works in my all aluminum LS motor. The ACDelco oil is perfect but if I could not get it, Shell Gas Truck has essentially the same numbers. No oil loss between OCIs, valvetrain is quieter, no piston slap with cold motor, etc.

I guess the results do vary... with mobil1 filters but it generally keeps the oil clean between oil changes (OCI =4k miles)

were recalled because they were blowing up engines left and right might have a oil sealant tablet in them...

Yes i know my leaked out but that was due to the shop error (working with their insurance on it possibly a top end rebuild I would hate to get someone else used engine aka GM refurbished .) i don't think they have any new LZ1 6.0 gen4 engines too

I have not lost any oil since it was tightened correctly...
I really hope the engine can be salvaged you can hear some knocking on a cold start(from sitting for a few days (I don't drive much) from one of the cylinders on bank 1 ..

it runs ok now but sooner or later something major will fail because of it.. a lot of people seem to be getting 200 to 300k miles out of this engine typical (it hardly does anywork thanks to the powerful 60KW motors)

I mean i can cruse around town at 40mph at 1,000-1050 rpms which is practically a high idle.

I have the same engine as the OP. Mobil 1 high mileage 5W30 here. I usually just by the Fram Ultraguard from Walmart.

I don't overthink it - not trying to squeeze every possible mile out of my oil/filter. Fluid changes are cheap insurance. Every 5k it gets new oil and a filter. 192k miles, still purrs like a kitten.

I've thought about the filter thing the last few times you've mentioned it. Wouldn't lower pressure mean the "better" filter? Curious of the data on the K&N. It doesn't seem to be published. What makes you say it has better filtration?

I have always used OEM filters in my cars. I usually buy oil when it’s on sale and has rebates to go along. I have Mobil 1 in my 18 Tahoe now but going Rotella gas truck next. Heard good things and it had really good rebate lately. Up to $40 back on 4 5qt jugs.

The K&N HP-2011 will fit my rig ? Because on the site it’s showing that it won’t. I’ve got a 2007 GMC Yukon XL 2500 it’s got the 6.0
