I just found out our TPW date has changed from 8/18 to 9/1. Does that mean we will be getting the 2015.5?

Assuming I just ordered the LTZ today 8/22...I should expect the "updated" version? Or this only for Denali?

A list of the updates are as follows:

1. 8-speed automatic transmission (Denali only - lower 1st gear ratio, two additional overdrives, taller final drive ratio, new transfer case, new differentials)
2. OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot with up to seven users
3. Hands Free Lift Gate (Denali only at launch, SLT being studied - wave foot under rear bumper to open lift gate)
4. Wireless Device Charging (Standard on SLT/Denali)
5. Optional Bronze Alloy Paint
6. GMC Intellilink now has an 8" color screen with capacitive touch feedback. (tactile feedback when you touch the buttons!)
7. Premium package now includes power assist steps
8. Sunroof now available separately
9. Rear seat entertainment now available separately
10. New enhanced security package
11. Rear bench seat now heated (optional)
12. new 20" chrome wheel available
13. XM radio is now 9 additional months (1 year total free)
14. More additional features may be available upon launch

There is a CHANCE that your order will automatically be held for the new updated models. Apparently, GM stated that August 14 was the last day to order the previous model. August 15-30 apparently won't have any orders accepted by the GM Connect system.

It was odd that the GM customer service person took forever to look up my order no then came back asking for additional info including the dealers name. I also emailed my salesrep and did not get a reply. They've always been prompt with replies. It's concerning to me since they wanted my trade in right away so I let them have the SRX 3 weeks ago. Not looking forward to another month at least having to drive my 25 year old car!! Guess it'll be worth it if we get a 2015.5 with the updates.

Any idea what the final drive ration will be? It's 3.42 currently, correct? Any thought as to whether the tow rating will change?

I'm guessing a 3:21 ring.
My Denali is scheduled to be built this week. Whether it's built with the 8 speed will only be determined when it shows up. Fingers crossed that I don't have to wait into the winter to get one.

If's its a keeper with the 8, I'll let you know what gearing it comes with.

My dealer finally got his allocation with the order placed 3/15. The Chrome 20" wheels are on constraint, so it did not get picked up this week. Hopefully a blessing in disguise.

Been a long wait and I have no idea when I will get my wheels, but our dealer is in a small town, small dealership and a good friend in small town Iowa. Life is good.

Hello everyone,

Congratulations to those of you who have ordered a new 2015, they are awesome! We are more than happy to help track your order and let you know where your Truck is in the production process. If you would like weekly updates on your new beauty, send us a PM with your order number, name and dealership. We will also be able to provide you your VIN once your Truck rolls off the line and has been produced.

The only catch is that when she arrives; we would love to see a photo!

Miles of smiles,

Kelly J.

2015i models with 8-speed start production on October 6. Anything built before that will likely be previous content (6-speed, etc.).

Anything ordered fresh after August 15 will likely end up being a 2015i. I think you'll be able to price the new version from September 4 onwards.

Yes, it is formally 2015i on all of the dealer bulletins and guides. Publicly, I'm uncertain how they are going to be presenting the updated versions.

I thought I read on the caddy board that any orders not picked up by the 27th will be edited to the new specs. Can anyone confirm? Does that mean if your picked up September 1st, that production wont start until Oct. 6th?

That's what I gather. I DO know that August 14 was the last day to order the 2015 model. Therefore, these orders will go to production and be built through September. From August 15 onwards, supposedly those orders will be held; then "pulled forward" to the early September ordering cycle and be converted to the 2015i models for October 6 production.

I DID message with a press member at Car and Driver Magazine via some texts and he seemed to mention that they are awaiting the release of the 2015i in the Escalade and Sierra trucks before they have any real road tests and review articles as the 2015i's are the more representative sample of the new Denali/Escalade/Sierra 6.2L platform for the next 2-3 years vs the predated/early release 2015s FWIW. This is probably why most reviews of these trucks are simple overviews and summary tests and are not yet the full elaborate published magazine tests as of yet.
