Yep, I sold my 2015 Yukon Denali and am about to place an order for the 2015.5 Yukon Denali. As confirmed, October production vehicles will have the new 8-speed automatic transmission capable of up to 160 shift instructions per millisecond.

That said, I intend on keeping my truck at least 3-5 years. I DO know that the resale of the "early" 2015's will fall much quicker than the 2015.5 so I figured it would be better to take a slight loss ($1700) and pay for the 8-speed, 4G LTE, later production vehicle vs. the old outdated 6-speed unit. That said, they are estimating MUCH improved throttle response and avoidance of that annoying holding some gears until 4-5k RPM before the shift.

2015.5 Color Options

SO....I am about to pull the trigger (next month) to order a 2015.5 Yukon Denali. I'm contemplating iridium/cocoa shale. I saw plenty of onyx black Yukons and the thought of another black car with all of its swirl marks, scratches, road rash, and stone chips showing everywhere has really started to tire me.

I had a pearl white Cadillac Escalade Platinum (previous generation) so wanted a change. My Yukon is to be a winter/daily driver. My one issue is the choice of interior colors. I saw the black interior. I was somewhat disappointed by the lack of materials contrast, bland-looking door panels, etc. The cocoa/dark atmosphere exhibits a "purplish-grey" hue on the seats and dash. I quickly ruled out that color (reminding me of many Japanese imports from the early 2000's with trendy colors). The cocoa/shale definitely has the richest look to it considering the contrast between the cocoa dash and doors, shale seats and carpeting, black switches against the lighter shale lower dash, etc., etc.

My main issue is: How is the Cocoa/Shale seat leather in terms of upkeep? I don't have any kids nor seldom have back seat drivers. However, that driver's seat is so buttery light in color, i'm almost afraid to drive it for fear of staining the seat bottom and bolster.

Any experience anyone?

PS....GM's color selection is really piss poor. They should look at the color palettes of say Mercedes-Benz, Range Rover, or Audi. I LOVE the Denali, just not the color choices.

I'd be very surprised if you see a 8 speed in the 2015's. My dealer told me they will go in the pickups frist then SUV's.

Yawn....Production will begin on 2015.5 updated models 2nd shift October 2014. It's all over every GM bulletin released this week. I got my 2015 Denali in Feb of this year...you guys were still wondering where to order them from.

http://www.autonews.com/article/201...-yukon-denali-with-v-8-to-feature-new-8-speed

It's official and GM OFFICIALLY released the bulletin. ALL 6.2L V8 Yukons, pickups, Corvettes and Escalades get the 8 speed transmission...and get them in the fall. Ever ask yourself why 6.2L orders and production has been constrained lately?

I'm in no hurry and what's a season here or there? An 8-speed Denali is just a better, smoother, and faster vehicle than the current 6-speed with that lazy throttle and prolonged gear holding. 3 years from now, I would've regretted keeping that old 6-speed from 2007-era anyhow.

x2. I'm waiting until the 18 speed comes out in 2028.

I've already placed my order. :challenge:
