I just bought a 2002 tahoe with 83k miles. What can I expect as far as repair costs? What are the most common repairs for this generation Tahoe?

Thanks for the help...

2wd 4wd?

most common repair is the gauge cluster due to poorly designed stepper motors. Luckily you can DIY for $50 or less. that affects every single one, and yours is due.

Just messing with you. I am also a newer Tahoe owner and other than the simple things people have to fix...it is a great truck. I come from the Audi world and I am stoked to have a vehicle I can work on comfortably with one trip to the parts store.

Things you should do to feel better about
Oil/Filter change
Make sure your 4WD system is properly serviced
Make sure Tranny Fluid and lines are good

Plugs and Wires
Seafoam it! - breaks up carbon in motor.

Other issues you will see
Intermediate Steering Shaft. Search for it...there are several easy DIY fixes
REar Wiper Motor
Speed Wheel Sensors
* I list these becasue these are on my list of ToDo's...come spring/summer

Easy Mods
Black BEar Tune - more HP!
Corvette Servo - Crisp Shifts on Tranny
Depo Headlights
HID Upgrade from DDM Tuning

Its a great forum, very friendly. Ask around. Good luck.

*knonking on wood* the only issue I've had is my air ride blew out about a week ago but that too is an easy fix. 4 Bilstein shocks $260 shipped and DIY install

At 83k, the first thing I would do is change the tranny fluid for $150. You can go with full synthetic but it's not necessary. I would also go with changing the gear oils and go full synth on that which is an additional $40-70 I think? Shit I cant remember now..

Then the typical stuff like plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter, and on your 02 you have an AC cabin filter underneath the glove box. There are a couple good threads here at TYF for replacing this, it's really easy just kinda hard to get to. I can't for the life of me remember which way the air flow goes on it but like I said there are a couple thread.

These are all doityourself and you can price it all on sites like www.partstrain.com

How much did you get the 02 for?

Good luck, and welcome

Yall are scaring him off. lol. This are good trucks and if you take care of them they can last a long time. I see tons of NBS tahoes around here.
