A couple weeks ago I replaced the oil pressure sending unit on my 03 Tahoe because the gauge was pegged at 80. It ended up fixing the issue but then today it pegged back at 80 so clearly it went bad. I replaced with an ACdelco brand part.

Any ideas as to what caused this or perhaps it’s another issue? I don’t know if it has anything to do with the little screen when replacing the filter. I read not all of them have the little screen and I couldn’t seem to feel for one when I replaced the sending unit.

The filter/screen showed up on next generation body style with AFM/DOD; your truck doesn't have the filter.

You could have a chaffed wire getting grounded causing the sender to peg out? The wire insulation will wear out right at the connector and can touch each other. Your model has 3 wires at the connector. Check that before replacing the sender again.

this reportedly happens more often than it should return it and get a replacement.

Who was the manufacturer of the first sender? Are you saying the sender was replaced and then went bad again and you then replaced with an AC Delco part, the second time? Your flow, to me, is confusing. Yes, there is no screen.

Where did you source this AC Delco part? There are lots of knockoffs out there. Buy from a brick and mortar store or another trusted vendor (dealer, RockAuto, etc.).
I bought it off amazon, ACdelco original GM part.

The old unit was bad, I replaced it a few weeks ago with a new ACDelco brand one. It fixed the issue but then yesterday the gauge pegged out at 80.

Im in this club too. New OEM sensor Indi tech sourced local. It reads 0 or races from 40-60 to 100lb +.

There’s a guy somewhere testing them.

Replaced the original oil pressure sensor a few months ago and then it suddendly went **** up, the first one lasted 21 years. Bought one for the Tahoe and one for the Yukon at the same time. The tahoe one is working, but the Yukon one now reads pegged 80. Both from RockAuto. GM# 12677836 made in Mexico.

aftermarket o/p sensors are known to be junk new in the box. even the delco ones can fail, im still not sure if its delco sucking, or china clones? either way its common for them all to fail. might take 2, 3 new ones to find one that lasts. what took on my 98 regal. 3 rd one didnt leak. its the same pos sensor as the tahoes use.

I broke the original one on my van. Replaced it with a Standard brand, i think. Reads about 7 or 8 psi lower than the original. I did verify with a mechanical gauge and hot idle is 15psi as the old sender said. New sensor has my check gauges light on when hot idling.
