Hello Everyone,

A new, old guy here. Just bought a 2007 GMC Yukon and hope that , with help, this will be my forever vehicle.
Found mine on FB Market Place. An original CA car, no rust, only 113K miles. It's an SLE, 4.8, RWD. Got maintenance records with it and it has been well cared for. Even has a recent (1 month old) paint job. It had clearcoat failure and the previous owner hated how it looked. He didn't intend to sell it but his driveway was overwhelmed. He owned another 07 Yukon Denali and 2 Lexus. Wife told him to sell it.
Condition is excellent, no codes or lingering maintenance issues. New Bridgestone Dualers 3k ago, trans and rear diff serviced 5k ago.
I am looking forward to enjoying it for years to come and hope to share with all of you.
Paul

Congrats and nice looking truck…also props for the 60/40 split bench seat in the front! Interior looks to be in good shape but guessing there are at least 2 cracks under that dash toupe?

I am now spending half my time looking for things to make it mine. Just have to go easy and get to know it. It's my replacement for my 2023 Silverado lease that I turn in in a few months

Yes, proceed slowly and with a strategy in mind for what mod to make and when, available time work on it, and funds to pay for the mods. I found over the years that 'available funds' was the main constraint and automatically paced my mod work.

Nothing beats a real Carnauba paste wax.

Yup… ESPECIALLY as the first coating on a fresh paint job.
As a professional detailer I disagree. Ceramic coatings, while they take a lot more effort and labor to be done properly, far out perform any paste wax out there. lol. They bring so much more clarity to the pigments of the paint. Plus the durability and longevity of a good coating will far outperform even a good quality paste wax. And you don’t get the crazy hydrophobic properties with a paste wax.

You never used real paste wax from 40 years ago have you?
Buffing real paste wax off was also a labor of love and very labor intensive.
That stuff put a shine on a car that lasted a year and would bead the water off the entire time. I used to do it every year in the spring.
The new paste waxes are junk as most waxes are. I'll agree with ya there.
Im still a fan of single stage paints. Several layers of paint sanded between coats and several coats of clear sanded between coats looks fantastic to me.

spoken like a true boomer lol. Not trying be disrespectful. But all joking aside paste waxes are for the old days…. times have changed and products have gotten leaps and bounds better than the old school paste waxes.
