Has anyone tried to put the 04 controls on an 01.

Yes. It can't be done. Completely different computer and wiring architecture. Its not as simple as splicing in a new wiring pigtail.

not worth it. unless you have a donor similar car and swap pretty much everything.

there's a guy who did a 05 dmax swap into his 99 nbs silvy and basically swapped the entire drivetrain and interior/wiring harness.
