New 2023 Yukon At4 Order - 6.2L unavailable

Hey folks. New to the group. Have enjoyed the content. I have driven Ford F150s for the last 20 years but wanted something different and ultimately landed on the Yukon At4. I was advised that the 6.2L engine is currently not available and I was going to pull the plug on my order but because the allocations are so limited i moved forward. This will be a very different vehicle for me in a lot of ways and I’m looking forward to the change. I think the At4 is a great looking vehicle. However I am concerned about being disappointed with the 5.3L. I’m hoping that it will be just fine and will be sufficient but know it will be less fun To drive than the 6.2L would have been. I did upgrade to the fatback performance exhaust hoping for a better sound. I didnt have a choice but am I overreacting or have a legitimate concern?

I daily drive a 2018 Silverado with the 5.3, it’s fine for me. I can only imagine the 10 speed makes it better, mine is only a 6.

Welcome from Russia)))) It's a pity that there is no 6.2. If such options, then I would have looked at a 3-liter diesel. Accelerates to 100 km / h it is the same as 5.3, but more economical.

I have 21 Tahoe and 22’ Silverado with the 5.3 and changed the muffler on my truck and seemed to give it a little more power, it’s pretty good for me.

That 5.3L in comparison makes my 5.7L feel like Fred Flintstone's feet are pushing it lol. 355hp in that 5.3L of his I'm told. The 5.3L is a great little eight.

1hp per cubic inch has always been considered a very desirable benchmark for horsepower in an engine. That 5.3L exceeds that benchmark definitively.

As I understand it, this is a very previous generation))) Because the Tahoe 900, which since 2007 or 2008, has already come with a 5.3 325 horsepower engine. and accelerated in the same way as the current 5.3 355 horsepower, and, well, like a diesel engine with 280 forces.

The 5.3 isn't bad, and you probably won't know what you are missing...but the 6.2 definitely changes the driving experience...for the better. I have a friend that has a Sierra pickup w/ the 5.3 and the 10 speed. It's not bad...and is also about 800 lbs lighter that the Yukon XL I drive. But, I'd take my 6.2 for smiles per mile over it...If your order hasn't been accepted yet, you could go back to your dealer and have it changed...it is likely that eventually he will get an allocation for a 6.2. Meantime, if you want to drive both engine choices, or even all 3, including the diesel, the Pickups are pretty plentiful right now, go drive them all...then make your call. Performance will be very similar between them.

My wife has a 5.3 2023 Tahoe. I daily drive a GLC63 right now which is pretty quick. But when I drive the Tahoe, it still has plenty of what I’m looking for to navigate through this south Florida traffic. I haven’t had any power complaints yet. With that said, my Yukon will be coming with the 6.2, if I was unable to get it, I would go for the diesel over the 5.3. Although I really don’t think I’ll notice much of a difference from her Tahoe to my Yukon.

Sounds like you understand it pretty accurately. I was merely trying to offer some encouragement to a fella is all. That 5.3L is a great motor. I'm a bit old school and outdated. In fact, I have (4) other rigs that are still carbureted. (2) of which make that 5.3L look like a chump lol.

I agree, the 5.3 engine is excellent)))) but not when it is compared with 6.2))) but here is a completely different story. By the way, in terms of fuel consumption, 6.2 is about the same as 5.3))) but 6 seconds to a hundred ... this is WOW))))

I have had both. I do not really notice the difference. I have two 6.2 right now, had a 2020 Suburban with the 5.3 and it was great. Dont let this hold you back.
