Yea my lady friend bought a 5 year old toyota rav4 prime. It gets ridiculous mileage.. like 50-95 mpg..
So hopefully will offset my fuel costs.. Or I will offset her savings.

Forgot to bring money today! But truck will definitely need new cooling system (planning on heater t's, radiator and hoses for now) and I see at least 1 broken exhaust bolt, but the exhaust leak sounds further down somewhere. Later tomorrow night I should end up with it..There are a couple small dings passenger side, but so long as it's mechanically solid..

Seems to be missing skidplate perhaps..

I am gonna guess that the one broken bolt head you see is at the d/s rear. Whichever it is, unless the gasket is blown completely out, if is leaking at a broken bolt head area, when the metal gets heated and swells up, the leak may go away till cold engine restart again. The underneath looks pretty good.

Skid plates were not standard. They were an option but pretty sure they are easily sourced

Actually I saw front driver side bolt missing, but I bet there's more. I have a hard time seeing currently, got a bad cataract in one eye, hopefully getting surgery soon. Rolling the dice a little as I didn't want my friend waiting around, after he drove me 45 minutes to get there, for me to inspect it more. But it sounds ok, revs smoothly. Evap monitor not complete but no other I/M codes..

Guess I'll get a better look in the coming days. (it will be dark by the time I pick it up tonight)

The front skid plate is right there on that top photo. I can't remember if my 04 4x4 skid plate is metal or plastic? But both of mine do have them. There is another skid plate on the transfer case, which you can also see on the photo.

My 06 2wd front skid plate is plastic, I do know that.

That frame and undercarriage looks incredibly clean TBH...

If you buy the clamp kits, the clamp kit for the d/s front, is the same kit for the p/s rear. The clamp kit for the d/s rear is the same kit for the p/s front. That is with the Dorman kits. The d/s rear clamp kit is the biggest PITA to install.

And E85 went up from $3 to $3.50..

That other skid plate is easy to get and install. It had been on there before, The 2 round dirt/rust spots show the contact points from when was installed at one time. There is 2 other install spots, that cannot be seen. My 05 Tahoe Z71 has the front plastic one and the aluminum one that is missing in your pic.

There was one here with 170k, they wanted $15k for it, but the driver door looked wavy in pics, from some bodywork most likely.. Sold in about 3 weeks I think..

Nah. To each their own, they shed a tear for us having to fill a 30 gal fuel tank @ $6/gal hahaha

The BAD: Front headliner coming apart! Don't know how I didn't really notice it earlier.. Sunroof shade liner also sagging. Don't think I will re-use any of it, rather look for replacements or just gut the headliner and maybe carpet because of odors. While smells might not be super terrible, it's enough to bother me, and I would prefer a metal interior that doesn't smell. (But will miss insulation). Dash lighting sometimes fluctutes, light sensor or switch issue? (When I move headlamp switch to off position, the cluster dims) Also noticed third ding on body.

The 'good': Drove the 13 miles home, oil pressure, coolant and trans temps looked good. Seemed to shift alright, biggest drivetrain clunk I have noticed is when I let off the brake from a stop. Engine seemed smooth. AC works, and all the windows.. So far all the controls/motors seem to work. I do like how the 6.0 feels and overall how the truck feels relatively solid.
4wd works.

I won't be surprised if I need front wheel bearings, and brakes squeaky after awhile, which I did not notice first drive..

Nice! cant wait to see some more pics of that beast. I had no idea these things were so sought after. EPA lists them as getting 10mpg city and 15mpg hwy. If its Flex fuel I would run E85 in that thing all the time.
