Tired of the ugly stockers. Something ideal for me would be a black 3" nerf style with integrated step pads. I'd like to see what looks good on our trucks.

No aftermarket but did purchase a new set of stocks, smoothed, primed, and color matched on the Escalade.

Removed the stock running boards on the Duramax picked a set of Amp Research power steps, color matched and Re-installed.

Nice, I already took the heat gun to my stockers and they looked good for a while. Now they’re starting to get gray again. Pretty sure I am too cheap to buy the auto steps. Looks great, though. I could see myself painting them, but one of them has a slight bend from the previous owner. Not obvious, but I can notice it. Just out of curiosity, how much were the new stockers?

New stockers were not cheap. Purchased them straight from the dealer. If I recall correctly the steps alone where ~ 1800 for the set. All I needed was the steps though. The actuators and rear bracket were already on the Escalade. The Escalade stockers are illumiinated, were easier to prep because everything was new and just a mater of R&R when everything was ready.


I still have the stock ones that came off of the 2015. They are up in my attic.

Yeah, I really don't have alot of available time to search and find some of these parts plus you have a good clean set of parts to start to work on. No need to clean or repair anything other than cleaning required for prep.

Agree about the price so I go at it one step (no pun intended) at a time. Thanks.

Yes, I don't like the black plastic steps either. Not sure but I'll try looking through the stack of receipts to obtain. The escalade power steps are also black textrured with the stainless steel strip. We smoohted the textered finish, primerered, sanded and pointed to match.

Oh they’re power steps? I thought they were just side skirts to fill the awkward space when removing the plastic running boards.. i already know they’re gonna be out of my price range lol

Yes correct, they are power steps. For the price of the steps alone you could probably get a full set of amp research steps. There are plenty of other aftermarket options. too.

So I ended up going with these.

I’m not sure if I am a fan or not. They hang almost 2 inches lower than the stockers. They are about the same height as the transfer case skid plate now. I guess that’s not really a big deal. The step placement for the front will take some getting used to. I’m an average size guy, but use the step so

I won’t wear out the leather seat by sliding off the edge. It’s more forward than I’m used to. Just like the nfabs but cheaper. Great quality, good packaging. Not even a scratch. All of the hardware is quality. Super no brainer install. On a sidenote, it looked pretty cool without any runningboards at all. You would just have to keep the frame rails clean and rattle canned.
