Yea I saw that also and I think it looks sweet... I want to do something like this. Does anyone know how about how much it costs to change out all the HVAC lights and the gauge lights?

well, going off of HAKS310 list (thanx HAKS), all of my interior lights and license plates lights were around $45 from superbrightleds.com

Gang, on the off chance, would anyone know how many lights and what type (if not 194s) would be required to do the instrument cluster in an 88 truck? Was thinking of getting my Dad a set for xmas but don't know what it takes.

You'd think that's blindingly bright, but blue(at least) comes out, as has been said, with no determent to driving.

What effect are you going for? Multi-colored? That's quite the hot-spot there.

So that picture is comparing 1) no light on the left, to 2) blue in the middle, to 3) stock 194 bulbs on the right?

Is there a separate bulb for the gear indicator? It comes on with the ignition rather than the park/head lights. I'd like to do blue in my gauges but would like to put a bright white in for my gear indicator, as it's been a little harder to see in the daytime since I did the white gauge overlay.

No worries. It's stock 194's in all gauge illumination slots excepting the lone blue LED. Being able to see "LED Vs Standard" was something I wish I could have found/seen before I did mine.

To boot, I had to get some indirect ambient light so the phone/camera would even see the gauges that weren't LED lit. Apparently the contrasting levels of brightness were spread out enough that.. Well, ya know.




I -think- there is a separate bulb for gear indicator, but not sure if one can get to it(If its in the gauge cluster) or if its entirely separate.

Note the opening at the bottom? I can't imagine that its light reflected through there, or something that goes in there.. but that's more a less the only access point near the shift indicator so, it may be you want to make one of those PITA changes.

Yeah, I won't bother with it unless it's reasonably easy to get to. It's just one of those little nagging things that would be nice to fix while I'm there for the gauge lights, but isn't necessary. (Well, the gauge lights aren't really necessary either, but at least they're easy! :))

I used one of the gauge overlays that is more or less a printed piece of window tint. It's generally a great product (http://whitegauges.net/) but my install was just a hair off. I got everything lined up almost perfectly except for the gear indicator lines, which are offset by about half the width of each line. Plus there is a tiny bit of tint to the openings over each line, so the light is just a bit dimmer. Not a problem at night but in the daytime it's harder to see and impossible to see if the sun is actually shining on the dash--I sometime shade it with my hand briefly to see what gear it's in.

According...

According to the list, you want 4 T1.5 replacements. Like so. I favor superbrightled's, as well.. I'm the average layman, and I can figure out what I need, and get it.

I -think- you'd want the bulb's ending in 74 off this list, but I'm admittedly the last person to listen to on that one.

@ BlackedOutHoe- What color bulbs did you use when you replaced them? I want to change all the lights and want to do the color that you did. Thank you!

So I have replaced 95% of the interior lights to LEDs. However, I have something strange happening. When I went to replace the lights for the instrument panel indicators the 2 bulbs for the ABS and the Airbag appeared to be a bit different from the others. They had a twist lock base but the bulbs were not removeable. So I purchased 2 new twist lock bases and put some LEDs in there. Now the indicator lights constantly stay lit. Any thoughts?

led cluster mod

gotta quetion for you guys.when u do ur led cluster mod the light that u take out of the cluster do they come right out of the original socket or do u have to get special sockets for the leds.The only reason why im asking is because my bulbs r soldered on to my socket but every where that i have reaschered they should pull right out.

The problem is that the light. Bulb is soldered to the twistlock socket so I can't pull the light bulb out of the socket.

I just tried this mod on my 97 Tahoe and none of my dash lights are working now. What do I need to check? Fuses are good.
