I stupidly backed into the corner hinges of a landscaper's trailer. Completely my mistake. What do you think I'm in for? By the looks of it, it's a complete liftgate and bumper replacement. What do I need to lookout for with this type of work (for example, sensors, supporting parts, etc.)?

Thanks in advance:

I'm likely going new and will be paying cash. Not looking to report on insurance or otherwise. Yeah, I figured it would transfer over. I hope my impact/crush bar under the bumper was unaffected.

I'm not going through insurance. I'm just curious about what other things I need to be aware of, for example the sensors in the bumper, lift-gate glass, etc.
good luck that paint color is hard to match up, ask me how I know....
getting the flake right and not have it come out purple is the hard part
get some estimates from a shop I am guessing 4-5k, slim chance it could be less if the bumper cover can be re-used, if it's cracked that's a no
you can look underneath it to see if the bumper bracket is tweaked at all, look close, use a flashlight. (compare to left side)
paint alone is going be $1000+
small area of damage but still takes the same amount of labor as if it was smashed to bits

Initial estimates are in. One place said they'd do it, soup to nuts (new OEM liftgate and new OEM bumper), including all painting and lift-and-shift of materials for 4,400. The other place - same process - 5k.

Maybe you can get another skin for the lower part of the liftgate. As for the bumper, see if you can remove it and heat treat it, or throw some mud on it (bondo) to fill that hole... If you're trying to go the cheap route.

Nice! That’s a win for sure. Now what’d you do with that victory?!?!?

Personally I would have told the wife it was $5,500…

“Well once they got the bumper cover off there were actually some bent exhaust hangers crushed tail pipe and such that also needed replaced. And for the cost of a stock exhaust I got this Corsa exhaust instead. It’s all stainless steel so it won’t rust and it’ll last a lot longer.”

already have the corsa exhuast. It was the first thing i did to the truck = ) Plus, I never lie to the wife, nor would I need to: she enjoys the power and sound as much as I do!
