I'm just wondering, has anyone else put way more money into their truck than what it's actually worth? I know I have, In the last four years I'm approaching 10K... :)

Of course but that is part of the hobby :waytogo: most hobbies that are worth anything require money be thrown at them :)

If I didn't spend it on my truck, I'd be spending it playing golf which I unfortunately can't do right now bc my back. Golf is just as, if not more, expensive than modding my truck. At least I have something to show for it when I fix up my truck.

I'm in their with you guys; way over spent coming up on my 1 year anniversary with my Southern 1997 two door.
Total cost of truck and mods/upgrades in year one is approaching $14K.
Truck cost, new interior(carpet, headliner, visors, katskins, seat heat), add heated mirrors, rebuild rear diff, relens front and back lights, add factory fogs,
ETC ETC ETC.........

BUT, I look at it this way:
1) Resale value to the "right" person is around $10K +/- $1k
Any new vehicle I would have bought one year ago would have lost way over $4K as its first year depreciation.

2) I had FUN and learned a lot doing it

you can't put a price on happiness, you're going to put $$$$$$ into your whip until you are satisfied or you can leave it plan if that floats your boat.

10k in old classy truck is still better than 40k for new truck. Just my opinion.

I like this man's logic. Its funny how other people just see us as draining money into these "old piles of crap". I see it as making my truck last for a few years longer than it was supposed to be!

Quoted for truth! I love seeing clean older-ish vehicles that have been obviously taken care of and even modded. Show's who else is a fellow motorhead.

It seems I put an average of more than $2,000 a year into repairs and preventive maintenance on my Yukon, but it's still far cheaper than monthly payments on a newer truck. That money doesn't include mods, which I kinda don't keep track of.

i have spent a ton on this truck. i have the $10K mark smashed and probably getting close to twice that with all the stuff i have replaced and done to it. it will rot in the driveway before i sell it :)

but its like that with the hoe and Sonoma although so far the noma has been a good budget daily driver build. camaro is waiting to have a ton spent on it, samurai hopefully stays pretty cheap :) haha

im at around 5k with buying my truck in the last year.. i know its not alot compared to you guys. but when i look back at it, i know everything in side and out with my truck.. i know all the maintenance and everything else has been done right.. i also have kind of a rare breed IMO it was only in production for 2 yrs before they changed the body style and everything else in it.... im still a long ways away from being done but its a battle with the wife so slow and steady..

Alls I know is that in 20 years (assuming copious amounts of gas are still affordably available...), I'll still be driving one badass truck, while everyone else will be driving those Audis from iRobot.
