339K ORIGINAL STARTERMy other GMT 800 started failed to start 1st time this morning - it's never done that I'm the original owner. Just wondering what the typical time frame for the starters to go out.
Thanks

Weird it doesn’t show the 6.0 fir my 02 Denali but if I look at the Escalades it does. I think I’ll buy a rebuild kit for mine (actually the Esky one) and do it. I watched the video, looks fairly straightforward. I have looked at starters vir mine snd the OEM us about $250 rebuilt iirc so that $45 would be well worth it. I can pull the starter and rebuild it at my convenience.YUKON - Alternator Starter Rebuild Kits

I wouldn't sweat too ******* that one. Start/stop systems usually have meatier starters. S/S systems have been around for a bit now and we haven't exactly had a major uptick in starter failuresI drive a new Ford Bronco Sport at work. 3 cylinder POS, but that is another discussion... I often think, "this can't be good for the starter...". Hate that it shuts down and starts right back up a split-second later. So annoying, that the system always defaults to ON. You can shut it off, but it always sets itself back to ON. It is saving what? One spray of gas from three puny little injectors?
I guess I am just an old-school control freak, who likes to be the one to decide when my engine shuts off.I wouldn't sweat too ******* that one. Start/stop systems usually have meatier starters. S/S systems have been around for a bit now and we haven't exactly had a major uptick in starter failures
I’ll tell you what- the a/c (and heater?) pretty much quits when the engine shuts off while you’re sitting at a light or wherever in traffic. At least in my daughters ‘18 Cruze it does. I was with her last summer, it was 95 outside and every time the engine shut off the air blowing out wasn’t cold anymore, more lukewarm. It sucked. I do not like it.I guess I am just an old-school control freak, who likes to be the one to decide when my engine shuts off.
Some of them dont actually have a starter.. Like the NBS Hybrid.I wouldn't sweat too ******* that one. Start/stop systems usually have meatier starters. S/S systems have been around for a bit now and we haven't exactly had a major uptick in starter failures
Bad implementation IMOI’ll tell you what- the a/c (and heater?) pretty much quits when the engine shuts off while you’re sitting at a light or wherever in traffic. Mine has been off for about 3-4 years. I couldn’t get it back on after installing my trans. Now heres the real question. That little metal heat shield that goes on top of the starter, below the exhaust manifold.
How many of you reinstalled it???

Mine fell off as I was maneuvering the starter into position. I never removed it the starter completely, just tucked it up out of the way. I thought I could install the shield after I finished installing the trans. I was wrong lol.I got mine on. It wasn't bad. Fishing the starter into place is much harder, just install the shield first then fish it in. I believe it is a heat shield to protect the solenoid from the heat coming from the heads.
