How long did your starter last?

On mine the brushes had worn down completely and full of brush dust. I heard that the starters on vehicles with the start/stop feature have much heavier duty starters.

My other GMT 800 started failed to start 1st time this morning - it's never done that I'm the original owner. Just wondering what the typical time frame for the starters to go out.

Weird it doesn’t show the 6.0 fir my 02 Denali but if I look at the Escalades it does. I think I’ll buy a rebuild kit for mine (actually the Esky one) and do it. I watched the video, looks fairly straightforward. I have looked at starters vir mine snd the OEM us about $250 rebuilt iirc so that $45 would be well worth it. I can pull the starter and rebuild it at my convenience.

FWIW my 02 had 175k and the original starter still going strong.

195k original starter here with oil dripping on it for 25k miles

01 Yukon XL with 416,000. I still have the original starter. Other things have failed over time but not that. Come to think about it I have only replaced one starter on any car I have owned my adult life (61). Had to replace the starter on a 96 Grand Cherokee at 250,000.

My 00 had for about 5 years and daily drove it. No starter issues

My 15 only has 60k Miles. Starter went on it a few weeks ago

I drive a new Ford Bronco Sport at work. 3 cylinder POS, but that is another discussion... I often think, "this can't be good for the starter...". Hate that it shuts down and starts right back up a split-second later. So annoying, that the system always defaults to ON. You can shut it off, but it always sets itself back to ON. It is saving what? One spray of gas from three puny little injectors?

I wouldn't sweat too ******* that one. Start/stop systems usually have meatier starters. S/S systems have been around for a bit now and we haven't exactly had a major uptick in starter failures

I guess I am just an old-school control freak, who likes to be the one to decide when my engine shuts off.
