Hello, I bought a Reese tri-ball with hook hitch however I think the shaft may be too long at 8". Any input?

It needs to go further in. I will try and get some pics. I'm at a campground at moment and it's dark as hell. Will the holes line up if you pull it out a ways? Sometimes they're not made to be bottomed out.
Cut an inch off (or a bit more).

I just happened to look at mine. The receiver opening does go all the way through the bumper and the only thing stopping it would be the spare tire. I have plenty of room between the spare tire tread and the back of the receiver opening. In the pic, the tape measure is touching the spare tire and there's 14" to the front of the receiver opening. The pin is located about the 11.5" from the spare tire.Hello, I bought a Reese tri-ball with hook hitch however I think the shaft may be too long at 8". Any input?
