Hitch shaft length 07 Tahoe ltz

Hello, I bought a Reese tri-ball with hook hitch however I think the shaft may be too long at 8". Any input?

Will the holes line up if you pull it out a ways? Sometimes they're not made to be bottomed out.

It needs to go further in. I will try and get some pics. I'm at a campground at moment and it's dark as hell.

Edit: Looking on a GM parts site it seems it should be a 7" shaft. If so hopefully I can return it, the labels just a little scuffed from trying.

Also, can't remember if the receiver tube goes all the way through the bumper or not. If it does maybe it's hitting against the spare tire when you're inserting it, and for a quick fix remove the spare and throw it in the back or on the trailer?

I just happened to look at mine. The receiver opening does go all the way through the bumper and the only thing stopping it would be the spare tire. I have plenty of room between the spare tire tread and the back of the receiver opening. In the pic, the tape measure is touching the spare tire and there's 14" to the front of the receiver opening. The pin is located about the 11.5" from the spare tire.
