A local guy has JBA ceramic shortys cheap still in the box. He says they will fit 99-03 GM full size, 4.8, 5.7 etc. I have a 98 Tahoe 2dr 4x4. Am I wrong in assuming they will fit the 98? Or is he wrong on the years? Thank you for any help.

Sounds like hes wrong on the year. The 5.7 vortec was used up until 2000. Try getting a part number and google it. That will answer the question for sure.

unknown at this time.
1999 Vortecs 5.7L may have had air tubes fittings installed so headers from a 1998 or earlier application will most likely would not have worked. The 4.8 an 5.3 was the next gen engines started as early as 1999 on trucks. He may have confused the number as typo. At any rate they will not work. BTW the 5.7L Vortec was used beyond 2000 just not is consumer vehicles.

If the headers are designed for the LS motor, the ports will be different than the GenI motors (OBS 5.7/350 block). The GenI motors have square ports on the heads, whereas the LS motors have round ports... plus the spacing/positioning is different between the two generations.

You are right about the LS moters but these headers are for a 99 Tahoe and I don't think Tahoes came with LS series motors in 99. I could be wrong though? Anyone know? As Sunlit said, I think I can work these.

Thanks Sunlit. I think I'm gonna buy them.

The guy finally emailed me back. I think they are for an LS series motor because he said the box says 4.8, 5.3, 6.0. We have 5.7. part # 1850-1-2-3
