I’m wondering if anyone has experience with the GM Performance Parts 6L80 part number: 19366637 and knows if it will bolt right into a truck that came with a 6L80? I don’t really see why it wouldn’t, the gear ratios are the same. Looks like it costs about the same as the reman GM transmission but is stronger and has a better torque converter. It might even be new rather than a reman but I can’t tell.

I read one of the q&a’s on jegs website that said it wouldn’t work with a factory vehicle ECU. But then on the summit page the q&a section mentioned it could be tuned to work. I know the 6l80 has a tcm built in so you might have to do some tuning work so that both are happy.

Also for anyone else looking I found the part number for the 4wd version: 19432684

I thought about the TCM shortly after I posted. The description says it comes with a USB drive with the calibration files for the different crate engines. I know there are multiple TCM part numbers between 07-14 and you need the correct one to program it. I figured we could probably get the correct new TCM and put it in and then it would work fine since all of the hard parts are the “same,” but those aren’t cheap. I can’t tell if the GMPP transmission is all new or if it’s a reman with upgrades, if it was truly all new, that might still be worth it over the reman.

What is it that keeps it from working out of curiosity? I would assume the TCM maybe but can't that be tuned or swapped with the stock one and then tuned?

2400-2800 stall?
Saw this in a description...

"Do not use this transmission in place of a GM service transmission – the calibration in the transmission control module is not compatible with production systems"

Wonder why it won't work.
Maybe there is some difference that requires a custom tune? (clutch fill volumes or ?)
Maybe you'll need a factory TEHCM?

It has to be the TCM and maybe the valve body depending on what your truck has in it. The hard parts in the transmission are the same for all years of 6L80 and all updates were backward compatible except for the planetary that was changed in 2012 and you have to use the different speed sensor harness. There were a number of different valve bodies and TCMs. I bet it would work fine if you used the correct valve body and TCM for your year vehicle. The valve body probably would be correct if you have a later model, but it would have to be removed to see which it is. I still think it could be worth it if every piece in this transmission is new rather than reman, but this wasn’t for my vehicle as I’ve already rebuilt both of mine already, so we’re just going with the normal GM SRTA.

Yeah I saw that part as well. I’m really curious if this could be used with a custom tune.

Biggest thing is, for not much more money you can do a 10 speed swap and have an overall better transmission

TCM and control system have to line up.
The "power & cruise " packages have been discussed at length
on the HP Tuners boards. They use a semi proprietary stand alone system
to control the engine and trans. So they aren't compatible with a regular
OEM factory PCM control

That’s what I figured. I don’t see why it wouldn’t work with a TCM and maybe valve body swap with the parts that match whatever year it’s going in though.
