I wanted a close-up pic of the washer I used on the alternator bracket, but you can get an idea here. I drilled the hole in the flat bar to fit over the threaded insert that's in the alternator bracket so the bolt would clamp as normal. I used a 1/2" lock washer (gold-colored grade 8 in the pic) behind the flat bar to fill in the gap from the surface of the alt. bracket to the back of the flat bar:

Final position. There's more space under it than what appears in this pic. A small plastic Dixie cup fits just fine:

Hose routing. Them being "crossed" isn't bad at all. It'd just be a little cleaner if the inlet and outlet ports were swapped. No clamps were needed as the hose was a super tight fit. I used a little KROIL to help them slide onto the barbs and PCV port. Had to be very careful with the PCV port since it's plastic and easily breaks. I cut the factory hose off surgical-like with a razor knife.

Where did you get that flat bar? I think I’m going to take a trip up to Home Depot to see what I can find.

I have a decent assortment of stock I've collected from personal projects and working in fab shops- round, square, solid, hollow, flat, steel, aluminum, stainless, etc. That bracket was cut from a longer piece then I rounded the ends off with my grinder.

They sell it at Home Depot and Lowe's but it's kinda pricey for the amount. If there's a fab shop (ornamental iron gates/fences, etc.) anywhere around you, stop in and see if they have a piece of scrap they'll give you.

Bingo. My shop is full of good pieces. I scavange it for things like making brackets all the time. Anybody with a shop that fabs doesn't throw it away and would be glad to give you a simple piece like that bar stock.

So essentially I'm just putting the catch can in the middle of that line, right? I've seen a lot of posters mentioning doing it on the driver's side in this thread but I don't see anything that looks like the PCV line on the driver side.

What Nate said. You're looking at the wrong hose.

The port at the rear of the driver's side rocker/valve cover goes to the inlet of the catch can, the outlet of the catch can goes to that port (PCV valve) on the top of your intake manifold. Be VERY careful with that PCV valve port as it's plastic and easily breaks. You may want to use a razor knife to slit the hose so you can peel it off and use a little oil to help the new hose from the catch can slide on more easily.

I just snipped the plastic line from the driver's side valve cover up to the top of the intake plenum in two and put the 3/8" fuel lines on them. The fuel line from the intake side of the catch can goes to the piece connecting to the valve cover and the outlet side of the can connects to the piece running up to the plenum. 3/8" fuel line fits snuggly on the plastic lines, but I still added screw clamps at all four ends.100_0519.jpg

Here's a shot of the can attached. If you want to remove the can for some reason, a 2" piece of the fuel line easily splices the plastic PCV pipe back together. Use two screw clamps to prevent a vacuum leak.100_0707.jpg

I like this idea. Less or no chance of breaking the fragile PCV port on the intake and the 3/8" hose that fits over the stock hard line is probably a good fit for the oversized barbs that come with that cheap catch can from Amazon.

Your pic is confusing me. It looks like the hard line coming from the port on the driver's side valve cover is going to a hose that crosses the manifold- where does it go or is that an illusion?

Here's the results of a trip we just made from MS up to Indy and back: 1521 miles/22.1 mpg. And caught this crap:

I was hitting 22.5 and climbing on my way back from Florida, westbound on I-10. Kept cruise set at the speed limit (70). It's along the Gulf coast, so no real hills to speak of. It was also late at night, so no traffic to contend with when passing through the cities and no one to piss off cuz I was cruising 20 MPH slower than what everyone normally does. This was before I disabled AFM. Since then I've lost an average of 1 MPG, but gained so much more life out of my engine which offsets the puny MPG loss many, many times over. :D

I'm happy to get 18+mpg with the cruise control set to 70 but most of my longer drives are through Virginia which isn't exactly extremely flat.

Just finished installing mine. The can from catchcan.com is not worth the money! I was highly disappointed when i opened it up and saw how close the dirty and clean ports were from each other. The filter media was also a joke...

Anyways, i modified it a bit with a 1/2 copper pipe and jb weld. BEWARE that copper and steel are incompatible! One or the other will start to rust. This is temporary until i can source some steel pipe. Probably from home depot.

I ended up with extra fuel line. Come smog time ill attach the piece of pcv pipe i cut off back
