Just got my Yukon back from getting rear end rebuilt and went to go fishing, and the shifter got stuck in reverse, and it felt like nothing was connected.
Called the shop to pick it up and fix it for free! it was interesting timing that it broke after it had been there a week. What timing?
Had this problem before in a dodge and it was the gear shifter cable, located on driver's side of of transmission.
You can move the lever to get it out of gear, but be careful that you have brake on or wheels blocked. Bailing wire or duct tape for a quick roadside repair.
And yes they fixed it for free.
