Front Seal Replacement

Im just about finished replacing the timing cover gasket and front seal again on a 2008 tahoe. The first attempt lasted about a week before it started seeping thru the crankshaft seal. Brand of the gasket set was SKP. Also was having issues with my alignment tool that night.

Well last night bought an upstream O2 sensor while we replacing it I discovered the leak. This morning I got everything pulled apart to investigate. Was going to reuse timing cover gasket but ended up taking a little piece of rubber off of it.

Went down to autozone and got the felpro brand this time. alignment tool fitted perfectly on the snout. I reused the brand new dorman hb bolt torque it down to 240lb....I really hate to go back down and purchase another bolt but hey I want to do it right.

Whats the most accurate torque spec and sequence for the hb bolt??

google and this forum has tons of torque specs but all are different..

will any angle gauge work..last time I had problems getting it seated/secured..

Today when I bought the fel pro timing cover set it came with paper/cork water pump gasket and the metal/rubber ones. I always have known to use the metal/ruber..whats the purpose of the paper/cork gasket?

They have a lot of left over paper gaskets?

Or if mating surface pitted, maybe rtv on paper would seal better?

All I can come up with..

the deg wheel thing isn't life or death. the bolt is big, you can just make the deg you need to hit on it with a shapie and go from there.

update: it’s been about a month or so and no leaks from the front seal after cleaning harmonic balancer snout with sand paper.

my tahoe is actually holding oil now. no more adding few quarts every couple of weeks.

after replacing rms2x , oil barbell , front timing cover , pickup tube o ring, oil deflector , oil pan gasket 5x my engine finally spotless underneath.

majority of my oil leak was coming from front and timing cover gasket at the beginning and when driving was getting blown to the rear bottom of the oil pan
