I recently replaced a couple of my door handles as they were broke.

Now, my passenger front door won't open, as the door skin gets stuck on the weather strip. It's driving me nuts now as that door is basically unusable now.

I've tried to fix it a few times, but it keeps happening. Clips seem to be in decent condition, but don't know if new clips would help. It will close and open a couple of times but eventually get stuck.

Any ideas/help?

Thank you in advance

Did you adjust the rod length? Don't want any tension at rest. New rod clip might help if the old one is loose in the hole?

I did have this issue with a rear lock, I had adjusted it too tight. I purposely adjusted it tight, because it helped the hard door pull on the rears.
But then one door wouldn't open, when I had tested it with door panel off and it worked before..
After a couple adjustments, it was finally in a position where it worked reliably, BUT the latch was sticky feeling because I had to pull on the handle so far before it released.
Replaced with a NEW latch, which solved my issue.

I feel like me trying to force it open, when it was stuck, MAY have tweaked the latch mechanism..

Nope. I didn't touch anything other than taking the door skin off to get to the bolts for the door handle...

When you take the door handle off again, you can screw the rod in or out from the clip.

Or, if you can remove/open the clip, hang the rod in there (with handle and latch attached) and snap the clip closed.

Same thing is going on with my 2007, same door same issue lol. I have to take the door panel off anyways to replace the handle and cable so I also plan to replace all the door panel clips while the panel is off.

I ended up taking it off and swapping clips from the speaker area to the edge of the door.

It fixed it for me at least, but that was when I was on a camping trip with no available parts. I got annoyed at the door since it wouldn’t open and my wife kept having to climb in the back seat to sit up front… lol.

The other thing that didn’t help me was the plastic piece that holds the door handle to the metal inside the door skin broke so that made the door skin bulge out and get stuck… I zip tied it and it worked
