I just discovered the dlr had snookered me with a Velcro'd down cover.:flame:
Never noticed it on the test drive, either.
On the way home it rattled.. it was then I noticed loose ends.
An LTZ...Does the entire dash have to be replaced or only the top?
I saw a dash carpet mentioned. May look at that as it won't rattle.
Other ideas??
Unfortunately, most every tahoe will have this cracked dash.
Also unfortunately, it costs around $750. More with shipping. And it probably will last 5-10 years before cracking again.

It's the top and face of it. Requires removing a few bits, but it's therapeutic work with just a few tools.

Lots of people like the dash cover, but it needs to be silicone'd down and it should stop the rattles.

Just getting the Hoe set up with an extra fob and key.
Ordered the parts from Northcoast.
Great service and price.
Local dlr refused to give me the key pt #, so I took a chance & ordered the "circle +" code key. Works great.
Local locksmith cut the key, coded it and the fob, cut a spare lockbox key...$100 otd.
The dlr wanted $62 for the key.
Got a couple other items to clean up and replace. The dr door pull is fubar'd. Chrome peeling.
Also noticed the door rub strips have need of repaint.
Fun fun fun!
Looking at a McGaughy 2/3" drop kit, new shocks.
Haven't tried the AFM lock out.
I have EFILIVE. Going to look into some tuning.

I saw a video or a picture a while back of someone laying down some fiberglass on the back side of their dash. I was wanting to do something like that but fiberglass doesn't always stick to plastic so well. Buuuut, if there was a dash that was already fiberglass, I could go ahead and load up the back side and make it virtually bulletproof. :gr_guns:

Keep the fiberglass but switch to using disolved ABS in acetone vs. the standard resins. That's the plan I have for reinforcing mine after I use the hot staple things to close all the cracks.

That said, those fiberglass dashes are intriguing if only because I don't have to worry about additional damage getting the original out.

Methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) will work in place of acetone, but is a little stronger/harsher. It's advised to use respiratory and eye protection when using either one.

If anyone is in the Houston area, and need a dash replaced, I have options. There is the fiberglass dashes that come from Mexico. They fit good, but it will take a bit of finessing. Once in you are all good. The other option is to get a das from 2012 thru 2014. I have access to a few.
