I was browsing my local Pick Your Part junkyard when I noticed a 2013 Avalanche just sitting there with the tires off. After further inspection, I could see that they had the two-piston brake caliper, and it made me wonder if they'd fit on my 2001 Tahoe. Any thoughts on this? Is it worth the effort of changing out the calipers, brakes, and rotors? Any advice or links to others have done this are appreciated.

After doing a little research, I'm pretty sure the brake calipers off that 2013 Avalanche will work just fine. Looking on Rockauto, I can see that the part numbers (GM GENUINE 85569601/85569602) for the 2007 Tahoe is the same as for the 2013 Avalanche.

Also, LSXMatt did a good job showing the installation.

I have still have stock Z71, which are 2 pistons, with 17" 2010 Tahoe rims.

So I have not done the kind of conversion you are looking at...
But I am pretty sure 18" wheels or larger (20") from later models would guarantee clearing the calipers plenty.
17" might make it, but it may be tight or require some grinding in strategic spots on the calipers or brackets.

Some nice late model Trail Boss wheels would be nice!

You'll need the caliper brackets, too.

I put fronts from a 2013 suburban on a 2001 tahoe...calipers bolted right on. No brackets required. definitely worth it and by the way you'll need the rotors too
