20 days and no ship. I gave them the ultimatum I will cancel and challenge the credit card charge if it doesn't happen soon. I'm not sure this was a good idea.

If you find another source please let me know, I'm still considering one. There is a Developer who has improved the firmware for these radios, I recommend searching for his Facebook page and read there.

Thought I would add my 2 bits in here.

I ordered Phoenix Automotive's "[NEW] 13" Android 13 Navigation Radio"

on May 3rd and received tracking info yesterday May 8th. They told me 5-15 business days to ship so that isn't to bad IMO.

Of course I still don't know when I will actually receive it since it is coming out of China but I do have a UPS tracking number so I guess we shall see how long it takes.

I have seen a ton of reviews on these units and they seem to be a love it or hate type of thing. Most people complain about shipping speed and a lack of customer service. One thing I noticed is a lot of people, that left reviews on YouTube anyway, seem to have ordered these at the beginning of 2020 right as the "Plandemic" was happening so I have to believe that certainly affected shipping times.

I ordered the 12GB RAM and 256GB ROM version so I don't believe there should be any problems with sluggishness or lag.

The reason I went with this company as opposed to a different seller is the fact that this unit keeps all of the factory buttons that were originally at the bottom, like adjustable pedals, traction control, parking sensor assist, heated washer fluid. Since I repurposed my heated washer fluid button to use as my Air Horn switch I wanted to keep it and many of the other radios on the market didn't have that button on the side like this one does.

I will keep you guys posted on how it goes.

Definitely keep us posted @kbuskill You're right on the love hate thing when it comes to these style units. The screen size is appealing and the operating system provides a lot of flexibility for apps etc. My understanding is there's a facebook group with someone who has an updated firmware/software update that makes them significantly more functional? I don't do facebook so I'm out on that.

Been wanting to upgrade the radio head unit in my GMT900 Escalade and just haven't landed on what I want yet. Trying to just start with an updated radio head unit before going too far down the rabbit hole of component speakers, 4 channel amps, sound deadening, and getting rid of the BOSE... It's too easy to be "well I'm upgrading the radio and while I'm at it might as well..." said no one ever who stayed within their budget. I like music, and rocking out with my kids, but I'm no audiophile, and would rather put funds towards go-fast drivetrain upgrades.

Keep is in the loop on your experience with the head unit, install, and functionality ease of use.

I wonder if this could be used to control the massage function on the newer Cadillac seats if ppl start putting Esky seats in Tahoes/Yukons?

Yeah, I don't do the "Bookface" either but have heard about the guy doing the software upgrade, I figured I will play with it for a bit before changing anything up too much.

I have a cheap, like $130, android head unit that I put in my 2008 Civic that I use for work and after figuring it out I am quite pleased with it, especially for the price. Although it did take some getting used to.

I can tell you that just changing the Headunit for something aftermarket will 100% change your perspective on the Bose system. With the factory Headunit the sound and bass are rather anemic, but with an aftermarket Headunit the subwoofer in the console comes to life and everything sounds better.

I am not an audiophile either but I can tell you that after changing the Headunit, and also replacing the factory Bose speakers with a nice set of Infinity speakers that match the factory Ohm ratings to keep the amp happy, I can ride down the road with all the windows down at 80 MPH and crank up the tunes and it is crystal clear and can be heard over the wind noise, so that makes me happy. I also did sound deadening on all 4 doors.

Also, with yours being an Esky, you will have the "Smart" Bose amp which is a step up from the "Dumb" Bose amp that my truck came with. You can tell the difference by the RPO codes but the easy way to tell is if you have a speaker in the center of your dash, which to my knowledge all the Escalades do.

My guess is yes because some of the videos I have watched show these Headunits controlling the massage seats in some of the Ford trucks.

These communicate over the CanBus system so it should be able to control almost anything with the proper programming.

Quick update:

Checked tracking and it shows it arrived in Komifornia and UPS says they have received it and the expected delivery is next Thursday the 15th. So far, so good.

But I wonder if the massage seats were already in the system. I am not sure if the massage module for the Caddy’s are in the seats or somewhere else.

Were you charged the huge tariff on it?
Not that I am aware of.

I'm not sure how that works as the only other thing I have ever bought and had shipped directly from China was my Tech-2 and it just delivered and I never had to deal with customs or anything.

I was reading about it, because I was curious as well, and I saw something saying if it was less than $800 then it was exempt, but that was just a preliminary search and there are all kind of product Codes you have to know to enter anything into the calculators I found online.

Not a clue. I was just saying that with the proper programming the Headunit is capable.

The new Android Headunit from Phoenix Automotive arrived Thursday, as expected, installed it today. Check it out in my "Mod" thread...

@Tonyrodz No tariff that I saw. UPS delivered it without issue.

How is this unit working out for you? I want to do the same update to my 2008 Yukon Denali.

It has a few quirks, the rear entertainment does work but it just mirrors the front screen which is pretty useless on that small screen. I ended up just hooking the connections together behind the headunit so that the RCA inputs on the back of the console will feed audio/video to the flip down screen. I believe it have only ever used the rear screen once many years ago, so really not a deal breaker for me.

For the most part it is good though.

My biggest complaint is they advertise it as a 13" screen but when it arrived it has a sticker that says 11.8". When I emailed them to see if they sent me the wrong one they were quick to respond and tell me that they switched back to the 11.8" due to quality concerns on the 13" screen. At that point I asked why they didn't just advertise it as an 11.8" screen and I was told "well, it is basically a 13" screen". I said well with that logic you should just advertise it as a 15" screen... lol

I currently have a dispute opened up with PayPal due to false advertisement, so we shall see how it all pans out.

It really isn't that big of a difference but you can see like a black border around the edges of the screen before it gets to the "wood" surround, where as in the pics they show online the screen goes all the way to the edge.

For me it is more about the principle of it.
