Those shaft cables are such a pain in the behind when they have problems especially the bushings. When my original one failed last summer on my 4th of July road trip to Utah on the way home, it was the judging and nowhere did I find bushings g repair kits. Now I know the exist after replacing three snapped replacement cables because no one told me that there’s a 2WD length cable and a 4WD/AWD cable that’s longer to go up and over the transfer case. Super frustrating. Glad your buddy wa scale to get back in business without having to replace the whole cable!

Had the shop install the Hellwig 7960 Adjustable End Links 6-8" yesterday which took care of the position of the rear sway bar. Just a bit down tilted below the horizontal now. I did have the DJM offset end links on hand for them in case they were a good fit, but they went with the beefy adjustable Hellwig's. Better choice and direct bolt on. Everything has clearance back there.

Can find them on Amazon or from Hellwig direct. When I called Hellwig direct to ask them for assistance, they could not have been nicer. From the lady who picked up the phone, to one of the techs in their shop. The few minutes in helping me find the right part for this install was very appreciated.

Somehow the rear coil rubber was either not installed or popped out? Not sure, but it was sitting on the frame after the first install a few weeks ago, so they put that back in place.

Found it sitting right behind the coil on the passenger side.

Handles like a 3 ton sports car. :driver:Everything seems to feel tight on the side roads and I-95 at 70mph. Just some front tire rub at full lock and can occasionally hear the rear tires on the fender liner. And the truck just looks good.

At my buddy's shop picking up another style of transmission shift cable bushing as it popped off when I got home.

Those Hellwig endlinks look great! Much nicer than the DJM endlinks. I may have to grab a set for the Esky.

i have some very similar ones(maybe even older gen?), but the threaded side wasnt threaded very far, so i had to cut some of it off and buy a 1/2-20 tap to run some more threads on it. so i didnt recommend them
we gonna keep commenting, bar should be as flat as it can be lol
and make the bolts point the same way, my preference is head out

@07Burb Yes I was impressed. Not far off the diameter of the sway bar itself. They are stout! The DJM are nice, but the offset diameter is thinner and I have seen other threads of guys showing them snapping with too much sway. The Hellwig end links are 2 parts screwed together and quite a few threads down. Some solid hardware.

It's crazy that isolator just hung in there like that and didn't fly off. Those links are nice. @07Burb order me a set when you order yours.

I was thinking about removing my isolators to get that extra 1/2" of drop.

Stories of the weekend...

Last night during the USA victory over Paraguay soccer match, my wife asked it she could use the Suburban to take our friends (family of 4) to the FLL airport at 0430 Saturday morning. I said no. Yikes..lol

She said, why not, it used to be my truck, I know how to drive it. So, I told her that I had lowered it like the Tahoe and she had to be careful of the bumps and any big dips on entry and exit and to not curb a wheel. She knows the drill, and drives pretty well, but gets distracted. Ssshhh don't tell her I said that lol.

Her friend just had surgery to remove her gall bladder 48 hours before and was in a lot of pain so my wife being the super nice person, offered to take them. I was worried about the early morning, 4 excited travelers, talking in the dark, could have led to issues with concentration and driving the long body. blah, blah. Our friends were flying to NJ (looking at you @Tonyrodz) to see family and friends, as that is where she grew up.

So away she went sometime around 0400 to collect the kids and luggage and then my phone rings at 0500. "The truck is dead!" The shifter is floppy! Are you alright? Yes. Where are you? FLL airport terminal 3 at the turn and people are honking. I told her I know what the problem is, I am on my way. Be there in 20 minutes. Do not let them tow the truck as they will destroy the transmission (it was stuck in reverse).

I flew down I-95 respectably doing 70mph in the Buick. I kept her updated on my status and arrived to the turn at Terminal 3 and there is the Suburban with hazards on at a 45 degree angle blocking 1 lane lol and a Sheriff there directing traffic and not looking happy. She said he was a bit of an ass to start then relaxed a bit once he knew what the issue was. Plus he was busy trying to move along the idiots not paying attention in the dark.

I said good morning, apologized, laid down on the road, slid under and yep stuck in reverse. Parking brake on, ignition on, shifted to R, slid back under, popped the shift cable on, started it up and we left for home and grabbed a little bit of rest before sunrise.

I decided to jack up the drivers side to give me a bit more clearance and slid under to install the new shift cable bushing. I soaked it in hot water, as it was a bit firmer plastic than the replacement that I had been using for the week (it had popped off twice this week again). The new bushing was stiff, but I finally got it thru the eyelet and popped it back on. Felt like a bit more of a click, so we shall see if that is the solution.

I gave the calipers and rotors a quick fresh coat of spray paint, then polished out the inner barrel, lug nuts and lug holes for both front wheels. Those spline lugs nuts do not like to stay clean in the grooves. Might have to go with another style at some point.

My wife came out to chat about the morning and said she didn't like it lowered. That it was weird to get into. I said, well I keep the power running boards off and just slide right in. It sure drives nice, just looks a lot better. I need you to drive it once a week while I am away for work, so please be careful.

Then I made her lay down on the ground to show her how to put the shift cable back in place, just in case this happened again. That way she will know how to do it, what it looks like and how tight a fit it is, especially with her boobs getting in the way. lol

And to watch out for the fiery hot exhaust pipe just in the right place to burn the inside of your wrist. She was ok with all of that and it made me feel a bit more comfortable that now she knows a bit more and we have moved past the lowered conversation.

Once I got the passenger wheel off to detail it, I found a small screw in the middle of the tire. I pulled it out, dribbled some water on the spot and no bubbles, so that was a win.

My son mentioned that his Camry passenger windshield washer was not spraying. The last time I looked at this for him, the hose had come disconnected from the reservoir and required removing the passenger front tire and going in behind the fender liner. So I got started with that and then decided to look at YouTube and put the tire back on. Then I followed the washer hose from the nozzle as it went behind the heat shield and disappeared down the passenger fender.

I decided to start there at that connector to see if water came out. Water flow was confirmed, but I broke the brittle, dried out barb. I used a safety pin to poke the sprayer hole to see if any grit was in there. It was dripping, but not spraying. I tried the middle T-shaped connector and still flow, but that brittle connector broke as well. Darn it.

Managed to get the sprayer off without breaking it and confirmed water coming out of the hose. I did not break the sprayer thankfully. I suspect it was the T-connector. I jumped on Amazon to find some connectors and will have those the next day and see if we can get it back in business for the lad.
