A few additional questions

1. How loaded was your vehicle? How much weight do you think you had including passengers and luggage?

2. Were you towing anything? If so, approximately how much weight?

3. Do you know if the vehicle has an oil cooler loop in the radiator? The transmission does, but there would be a 2nd set of lines in the radiator on the other side of the transmission lines?

4. Do you know if your vehicle has the Max Towing Package?

5. About how many miles between oil changes? Do you use the Oil Life Monitor as guide or do you change more frequently?

6. Were you running 0W20 engine oil or some other viscosity, of other, please state what oil viscosity you typically use.

7. Was the terrain fairly flat or did you have some hills? If hills, what was the typical elevation change?

Thank you for sharing your experience, this is unusual for a 5.3l but operating in your hotter climate, with the higher speeds on the highway and possible heavy loading in the vehicle may be a borderline condition if you were running 0W20 engine oil. If the vehicle is not equipped with an engine oil cooler, given your location and highway speeds, this may be something to consider adding to your vehicle.

1. with passengers and camping equipment and all the overlanding gear, probably around 500kgs additional weight

2. no

3. unsure, will check and report back

4. it does not

5. i do 10k kms between oil changes

6. unsure, will check on my next oil change

7. i would say about 30% of the route was hills with various degrees of elevation change, nothing more than 8 degrees tho.

Honestly, im just scared to do any mods as they might make it an excuse to void my warranty. i think once the warranty period is done ill bit the bullet and sell the car
