Just took my 07 Denali xl with 220k on the clock to the tranny shop. It was making some weird shifts from 1-2 and slamming hard. Short story is tranny is shot and the driver side motor mount is broken. It’s $7800 to repair everything. What would you guys do? Pay the price, waiting for the engine to need replacing or throw in the towel and sell as is/look for a newer one?
I'm surprised its that amount to redo the trans, and a motor mount is fairly easy to replace i am planning on building my trans in my 07 tahoe 4l60e it was 3100 remove, rebuilt, and reinstall at a reputiable shop around me in missouri. Buy a new motor mount and replace the bad one yourself. my tahoe has 210k on it im puting a cam oil pump etc in it.

I do not think that the new ones are necessarily better/offer more convenience just more computers and headaches. The price you were quoted sounds very high I would shop. Sounds like the truck is nice so keep it. I have owed every generation of these trucks since the 400 series and yours is the best in my view.

I would move on more so it’s just an old truck now unless you have some sentimental attachment. The newer ones from 2015+ have so much more to offer.

Also if the truck still moves a dealer would probably just give you the trade in value if you purchase a truck from them.

Since the 2021+ models have been out the 2015-2020 ones are very reasonable priced now.

If you want to YOLO get a 2025+ the new redesign is great.
Im so bitter over my Yukons motor bkee 2X ( 40k and 59K ....8-4cyl Typical failures) that I moved to another brand. Almost killed on Highway once is enough for me.

But yours Doesn't have the 8-4cyl engine in that year.....so if ya love the truck, and guess at engine work, new brake lines and A/C failure are in your budget, over next 2-3 years, weigh that against $15-25k for upgrade.....with that Damned Engjne failure in your future. Keep what ya have or pick a new brand. Good luck. I saixbye bye GM gas engines....

Again, why the GMT800 is the most reliable.

They don’t make the vehicle you want to buy anymore.

Do the 10L80 swap to increase driving comfort and mileage, but decrease cabin noise and engine wear.

www.powertrainswapsolutions.com

When the motor goes it’s a straight swap for another L92 6.2L. Adding a set of cams will get you 450 boring hp, reliable 10SP power that Will Not increase insurance and also get you to year 2036 in boring complacency.

Your power train will now be your asset, not the truck. If it’s totaled, the Superman power plant bolts in ANY 07-14 Tahoe, Yuke, Burb or Esky.

Not a good time to leave Tech2 technology behind.

If it's a cream puff, then an economical repair like a good used transmission from an auto recycler, and a few parts could be money well spent.

If it's rusty, or used up in other areas, I'd take the money and find a new-to-you lower mile version.
That's what I am doing on a 08 Denali , the trans swap that is.
