Hello!

My 2010 GMC Yukon Denali has some issues with the driver door.

It started 2 weeks ago (when it became hot outside).
Sometimes the door wont lock (neither with the remote nor with the switches inside). When this happens all the switches in the door panel (windows, mirrors etc...) wont work. I can still use the key to lock and unlock the door.

The next moment everything works fine again.

Then it starts again....then works fine again....

When I start driving with the issue the display sometimes says, that the driver door is "open". But only sometimes...

Any ideas?

Regards
Dennis

first thing to check is your battery, things like door locks are the first sign of low battery power, the change in seasons (getting hot/cold) will affect the battery as well.
if the battery checks out ok, then proceed to the battery cables and vehicle grounds, dirty or corroded wires and connections are a problem for these truck they are power finicky.

Also on the drivers end of the dash is a panel with fuses behind it, under the fuse box is some connectors... try wiggling those around or unplug and replug them and see if your issues go away. This is where your door harness connects to the trucks main harness.

Hi there!
Today it started again.
So I first opened the door and sprayed some WD40 into the latch.
Then everything worked fine again.
I don´t know if that solved the problem permanently, but if so, it could have been a stuck wheel inside the latch. I think there is a gear wheel inside that pushes the door switch when the door closes.

Lets hope that fixed it. I will see next days...

Thank you so far!!!

UPDATE:

now as its getting very hot outside the issue came back.
The display says "driver door open" when the door is closed and that causes all the other issues.
Sometimes in the evening when it cools down a bit AND if I close the door very softly the truck thinks the door is closed.
When I slam it or its hot the msg always pops up.

Any ideas?

(I already checked the wiring that kbuskill mentioned, Battery is also good, and I didnt find any corroded grounds)

There’s a switch incorporated into the latch. It’s probably faulty.

ok. looks like I have to take off the door panels and take a closer look.
As it sometimes works it might be just "stuck"?
